Question about entry

Post by peacefulhuman » Thu Jul 14, 2011 4:53 pm

I posted in the 2011 Tickets section that I received the wrong order from In Ticketing, and despite trying repeatedly to right the wrong, I am still in possession of two tickets that aren't mine, and never received the one ticket that I paid for. (the post is titled "can I give away a ticket?" if you're interested in the drama behind it - you can see I've tried multiple times to get the issue corrected.)

Since this is the Q&A section, I thought it would be okay to ask this here: does anyone know if they will actually scan the tickets at the gate? Last year (my first), the guy at the gate barely looked at my ticket and just tore off the stub. No electronic validation of any kind.

My concern is, if I try to use one of these tickets and it's been reported "lost" by the oh-so-wonderful ticket company, then I'm screwed at the gate if they scan it. I can't verify if it's been reported lost or stolen, however, because in order to do that, you need the e-mail address it was ordered with, and this ticket is not associated with my order. (as I explained in my other post, I don't want to profit from this - I don't want to sell a ticket I didn't pay for - but I've not received my own ticket despite several attempts to rectify In Ticketing's error).

I asked this question on the ticket board but so far I've gotten mostly messages from people telling me "take the ticket - and by the way, can I have the other one?" which makes me think that the only folks reading that thread are the ones looking for tickets themselves. So I thought I'd reach out here on the Q&A board for some feedback from others in the know. Please forgive the dual post.

Anyone else have an experience like this, or know if they'll scan the ticket at the gate? I'd appreciate your feedback.
Thanks!
Terry

Why don't you try emailing the address given to you in the other forum and say you don't have the email address because you bought them off of eBay, and after you got them and started reading here about fake tickets you just want to be sure you won't have any problems at the gate. Sounds reasonable to me.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Yeah what he said. And can I have the other ticket?

Sorry I couldn't help myself.
A plan is what you vary from.

There is no scanning at the gate. That's why a hard ticket is required with hologram and embossing on it as well as other security features.

Yeah, there are no scans.. You just happened to score big. I'm sure the other people have gotten their tix. What you could do with the other one is sell it- but then donate the money to a good burner cause. Or, find a friend worthy of it. Mentioning a free tix is like adding blood to a tank of sharks
