Newbie Would Like To Share

Post by wingsnyc » Fri Jan 27, 2012 10:42 am

Hey everyone!
Yes, it's true, this is my first BM but I've said enough is enough and I'm making it this year.
Quite frankly, I've read all the guidelines and such but I have no one to go with me yet, and to be honest, I just want to go with people I've never met vs friends. I feel like life sometimes present us with opportunities to find new and to just do it!
Anyone located in NYC that would like to start planning it together?
Camping and transportation is key and of course, hitting it off with the right crew.

Raffaella Ciavatta on FB! or email rciavatta (at) gmail (dot) com
We gotta start somewhere!

Cheers :)

Welcome aboard wingsync...I caution you not to put your real email out there..a fair amount of spamming comes through these boards :(

Good luck and hope to see you in the dust
Burning Man isn't about the stuff you see when you get there's about the people that brought that stuff there

Email format edited by me in the hopes of slowing down the spambots.

Welcome to the board, Raffaella!

There will be a rideshare board later on.

You might like to get in touch with regional groups, for now--meet some local folks. Go here for New York:

If you want to meet other burners from NYC, come out for the weekly Happy Hour on Wednesday nights. Sign up for the NYC discussion list to keep up with this weeks location.

As mentioned above, the weekly burner happy hour is the place to network and recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. The NY announce list will also have other event announcements from time to time as well.

One of these days I'll have to make it to the happy hour myself, but its a long trip after a long day at work and I always have work the next morning as well.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

wingsync, welcome. If I lived in or near NYC I would hook up with Kostume Kult. They will be at this years burn in full force. If you like to 'play dress-up' they are the best to hang with. Look them up on FB and go to their next event. It's pretty much a constant party. I would bet tomorrow they're doing Brides of March. They are looking for help with setting up, manning the dome and other chores.
