What day do we leave burning man?

So if burning man ends on sept 2, does that mean we pack up that morning and make the drive back home? Or does it mean that sept 2 truly is the last day of partying, and then we wake up the morning of sept 3 to pack up and drive home?

I need to know what to tell my boss!

More like August 30 is the last day of partying, so you spend the 1st breaking down camp and mooping your camp site.

The greatest number people will pack up on Sunday the 1st or Monday the 2nd. If you leave during the popular times expect 3 hours before you hit the highway, possibly more. If you leave on Tuesday the 3rd, there's little-to-no line to get out. Technically you're not supposed to be there after Monday unless you're helping the DPW (Department of Public Works) clean up, but if you are packing and doing your MOOP sweeps and being a good citizen, no one will bother you.

My longest Exodus was 6 hours before the highway. That began on a Sunday morning at 7am--a high traffic time, and someone had a car accident on the two-lane highway. Lots of people felt the effects of that one.

It's good to be well-rested before you leave, 'cause you might have a very long wait.

You can leave Thursday and tell the boss you'll be in for the weekend to work on those accounts.
