Buying a camper as a tourist?

Hey there everyone, I'm heading up to reno in a couple of weeks from Australia for my first year at burning man and I'm considering buying a used van to sleep in and then to use for a couple of months trekking around the states.

I've been trying to get info about how to go about this as a tourist but was hoping someone on here could share any experiences or knowledge they have on exactly what I need to do and whether this is a good idea?

From what I've been reading its possible to buy a car as a tourist as long as I have an address in Nevada to receive the title etc. Has anybody done this before, or know of anyone who has done it before? Is there anyway around it? Does anyone have anything for sale? Would some brilliant person be willing to do me a massive favour and lend me their address to make it happen?
