We have two RVs which already come with 50 gallons on board, and we also have 2 50 gallon barrels for drinking etc. The problem is that we don't want to carry the weight from San Francisco to Nevada, so I was hoping to stop somewhere in Nevada and fill up the two barrels if possible.
Any suggestions on how to do this ?
thanks!

Re: Getting water in Nevada
Just search for RV dump stations, many of which will also have water. Most Flying J truck stops have water spigots that you can use to hook up a hose. I have filled up my camper and a lot of water jugs at the Flying J in Winnemucca the last two years.

Do you get the JRS? There is a water fill up in Gerlach. It has limited hours but that is the closest place to fill that I know of.

Except there is likely to be a huge clusterfuck trying to get water in Gerlach.
I also don't like the idea of waiting for the very last opportunity to get my water. What if that plan fails?

There are quite a few places on the list - it's just that the Gerlach place is closest, and with that amount of water weight it might be worth waiting in a line for a bit. The poster will have to decide...

Thank you!
I called up a Flying J and that will probably work
Hopefully someone else can find this thread useful as well

Re: Getting water in Nevada
Before arriving at BRC, I overnight-ed at a motel in Fernley so that I could rest and arrive at the gate just after the break of dawn.
Not wishing to tow an additional 200 lbs. all the way from Mississippi, I requested and the desk clerk loaned me the tool that opened the outside water spout and I used the 5' section of garden hose that I brought along to fill my 5-5 gal. water containers.
I have used this procedure many times over the years and no motel that I was ever staying at has ever refused this request.

I used to advise not to get water in Fernley. Ignore any old posts on that. The good news is that Fernley got a whole new water treatment plant to remove the naturally occurring arsenic in the tapwater about five years ago.

We glamped with water. MECO provided a big tank of potable water, we shared with everyone we could, hydrated RobbiDobbs, and still had some leftover. Yeah MECO!!!

KOA campground in Boomtown. Nicest folks going and I filled 2each 55 gallon drums plus my trailer for $10.00. And the dump on the way back is the same. They love Burners too.
