When are you leaving? How are you getting there?
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

So funny - Grai, VC, Jax D, me and a few others were sitting around Foundry Camp Sunday discussing the Log commercial.
But to steer things back on topic: plane, hotel shuttle, box truck.

The two of us are leaving right from work on Friday August 21st. We're right on Rt 80 here in NJ. If one of us doesn't kill the other, we'll be on playa the next Thursday.

Driving. Leaving midday the 28th, should arrive on playa midday the 29th.
The playa isn't "home" to anything or anyone, it's not magic, it's just a goddamm camping trip. A really awesome one. -Captain Goddammit
Re: Travel Log
Driving, leaving 27th, staying in fernley, then early morning playa arrival on 28th.
I've been watching the weather... it seems a bit more 'active' than previous years. Would like to avoid arriving during dust storm or lake-generating rainstorm.
After I'm placed, not too worried about the weather.

Leaving after a short work day (hopefully) on the 28th from NM. Not sure where I'll stay along the way, but the aim is to arrive about when the gates open.

Leaving Berkeley after 7pm on Wednesday the 26th with the husband in our car.
Spending the night at The Sands in Reno.
Meeting two friends from Australia on Thursday morning in Reno who will drive our 26' truck.
Enduring the pandemonium of being one of about 30 groups picking up u-Haul trucks from our storage place that has limited parking...
We'll pack the truck and pick up water, ice, perishables and booze and hope to make it to the playa in time to get a monkey hut up before dark on Thursday.

I only live 45 minutes north of I-80, less if you take the I-84 split in Echo Canyon in Utah, you drop out a mile or two from my house. Then just shoot down I-15 back to 80. We don't leave until Friday, so if you need a stopping place, you're welcome to visit. Must like cats.VultureChow wrote:It's an EA pass issue. We'll just have to spend an extra day drinking in Reno.
