If I can get it all figured out I will be attending this year but will need to leave late Wednesday/early Thursday. I will have my own car but do not understand and cannot find information on the parking situation at BRC. I am going alone and will not be part of a camp, will likely trek my stuff out to the walk-in area for a touch of desert solace. In this scenario where do I leave my car? Is there a designated parking area for people not in camps? Is there any chance that I could get parked in or trapped (I am returning for my own wedding party so that would be disastrous)?
Sorry that this must be incredibly boring for anyone who has attended previously, but it is the one critical thing for myself. Thanks!

Hi, generally people park their car right in the area that is directly in front (?) of their walk in space. That is not to say you park next to your tent, but that you park, walk however far "out" you desire. The cars are never far from where you decide to set up camp. You may also decide to camp among your unplaced friends on the outer edges. You would then most likely park next to your solo camp.
The truth is more important than the facts.

See if this helps:
That's a satellite image of walk in camping. The city is in the upper left. That arch of cars all parked next to each other. The spares dots in the center are the individual camps. If you are right on the road like that, no chance you're getting boxed in.

In case you're timing getting to a flight or something, budget a hour of driving on-playa to get off the playa to pavement; there's usually lots of ruts worn into the playa by then and you have to drive slowly (10mph limit between pavement and BRC; 5 mph max inside BRC) to avoid kicking up dust and creating a white-out for other drivers downwind of you. You may need to drive even slower, as there's always someone rushing through kicking up that dust. And there's always a dust storm risk, so do gauge the wind/weather yourself. Pay attention to BMIR radio too. If there's rain coming (playa roads closed), you may need to head out in advance or be stuck there until the way is dry/drivable.
P.S.
You can solo camp within the generic BRC too. You don't need to be out in the walk-in area. But that's nice if you want some distance between you and neighbours. Camp within the ring if you want to be part of the neighbourhood. I always camp solo within the ring.

That's one word I regret googling during breakfast.

Video games are giving kids unrealistic expectations on how many swords they can carry.

, but don't harm the red dragon that frequents the area from time to time. He and I have an agreement.
