Hiring a driver for semi truck or tailer haul

Post by gnots » Wed May 02, 2018 2:12 pm

Heyo!

Our camp is in the middle of a decision... We are either getting a semi truck trailer or a large towing trailer that can be hauled via a heavy duty truck.

Does anyone have experience in hiring a "heavy duty" truck driver to pickup and drop off the trailer?

Is there anyone here that can offer advice for these? We are based out of LA

Here is a list of outside service providers from last year. https://burningman.org/event/camps/deli ... providers/

On the links that don't work, right click, copy the email address and then shoot them an email. Just send em all the same email. See what shakes out.

Does anyone have info on heavy duty truck haulers? (not semi truck) This would be for a 24ft pull behind 3 axle trailer.

Did your research turn up any answers? I'm also trying to transport a trailer to burning man, but from NYC...

We may have found a solution! Our camp is going to try securing a driver through https://www.uship.com/

Right now we are in a bidding process and may have found our driver. I will let you know how the rest of the process goes...

Uship is great but maybe not so great for burn shipping, I highly doubt any of the independent or hot shot truckers on that site will have experience with delivering to BRC or access to outside service provider credentials to make a delivery to BRC, so you'd likely end up contracting hauling to Gerlach and then having to figure out how to get your shipment from Gerlach to the burn. YMMV.

Pm me and I might be able to provide some contact info for some individuals who might be able to help after I can get confirmation from them that it's ok to share their numbers.

So, you know that you need to make arrangements with the ORG as well?

The one person I was able to contact on the "official" list provided by bmorg wanted nearly 6k for a round trip of a pull behind from LA - BRC. This seems fairly steep... The bids on uship seem much more reasonable. I am familiar with the process of getting delivers into the city, its just making sure the drivers understand that... who knows they may start doing it after this after they get experience.
