eric, might you suggest to your little buddy that he should know that people and things are not always what they seem.
and that once the rubicon is crossed, there is no turning back.
just some friendly advice.
lord knows the last thing we need is a another pissing contest around here, but i'm afraid someone is begging for a golden shower.

I have been quite courteous to everyone including those those who have beaten me with the same verbal abuse over and over. I am not going to give you the satisfaction of cowering down.Roberto Dobbisano wrote:eric, might you suggest to your little buddy that he should know that people and things are not always what they seem.

SicPup, a few points,
Ebay has made many Millionaires.
SG didn't bring this to Eplaya... Eplayan's did...
He has every right to stand up here.
The fact that 50,000 plus people will be on the Playa and that people really do spend crazy $$$ on the Playa is going to happen.... move on...

Can anyone ever really know who SotP is? Sorry if you took offense. I was just thinking how I might feel if a routine I had gotten used to and enjoyed was for whatever reason, changed or preempted.Simon of the Playa wrote:john i have been out on the playa since 1996 and only with root society (which is only dormant, mind you) since 2005.

like you know me.
you don't.
I've camped with the same group for all the years I've been to the burn, and personally speaking, if I found out that I wouldn't be able to camp with them again this year, it would definately impact on my experience. No doubt.

sorry john, my hair-trigger response mechanism is a little too sensitive these days and i am likely to shoot first, have a cigarette and some coffee, and then go check the body for answers.
not a personal attack, more a defense.
people attribute all kinds of things to me that are merely fig newtons of their imagination, most of the time i go with it, or even reinforce their fallacies, other times i get nasty at what i deem to be attacks, when they are merely questions based on myth or rumour.
again, i apologize, but for some reason it seems you ENJOY flogging dead threads, and i felt based on my omniscience that you were bumping this SacoShitgames to the top over and over.
Then the schmucko pissed me off....Kevin is not even his real name, BTW.
he is, how we say, a marked man in my book...

Interesting question. It certainly would take me out of my comfort zone...I mean, returning to the burn every year is like going home, and if all of my family were suddenly not going to be there, it would give me pause. I do know that when my real family no longer live in my hometown, I will never return. But who knows...life holds so many unexpected surprises and adventures. Not all of them involve Burning Man.FIGJAM wrote:Would it stop you from going or just take you out of your comfort zone leaving you open to new adventures?jkisha wrote:Can anyone ever really know who SotP is? I wonder how others that are used to camping with a theme camp would feel if there camp were no longer available for them to call home.

John, one of the best burns EVER was 2004...i ended up hitchiking from ohio because my motorcycle Satan III died.
i came alone...i stayed in a pup tent by myself...(except for when i had guests..) and i hitched to salt lake and finally flew "home"...the whole experience laid waste the whole notion of 'Planning" because NOTHING went the way it was supposed to.
was i out of my comfort zone? No, not really, i have done the BM "experience" by train planes and Motorcycle, Rv's and Pup tents, Tipis to Tow- alongs.
i dont give a shit, what i care about is making it there if i have to fucking crawl.
obviously, my comfort zone is ALOT different than most, i am a cockroach who can survive on your scraps or indulge in your banquet of splendor, it is just food either way for me.
so now you know a little more, i live and die for Burning Man, it is my Sacred journey that i make either alone or with others, but it is something i feel i must do or i lose hope and my own sense of humanity.

Oh please, it's a camping trip with art. Get over it already. And frankly, the more money you can afford to spend in preparation, the more comfortable the experience will be.
