Re: Official "Not Awarded Tix" Thread
STEP (the Secure Ticket Exchange Program) will launch on 22nd of February, and the secondary sale begins on 28th of March with 10,000 additional tickets. Crossing fingers dammit!

Re: Official "Not Awarded Tix" Thread
My guess: It will be staged like the secondary sale, but for the people that didn't get lotteried tickets, it will happen behind closed doors, with them first.

Those tickets have been on sale there for at least 3 months. I would never buy anything from a scalper.orogob wrote:allright, let's all buy tickets back for 1300 USD each. you somewhat blew it, ticket-crew. welcome tourists with the funny hats. this will be burning man then.

If I wanted to buy scalped tickets on stubhub for 700 dollars I would have told you so.
Why is it that I know very few actual burners who got tickets, the most active ones have been denied and all I see is more rules about who can go and who cant.
Not to mention the fact that everyone I know that did get tickets got charged 390 dollars a piece for them.
What is this coming to? Are we going to have to organize a different event?
Rejection from an event that is about being open and free is a horrible way to choose people.
Make it meaningful, guarantee tickets for 2013, especially if the person is rejected for this lottery

Bounce,
Been reading the threads and it all sounds shitty. Sorry to hear about all the rejection emails and other correspondence.
So I guess the next option is the STEP...
... or, as I like to put it:
Disgusted
Unchosen
Burner
Secure
Ticket
Exchange
Program
Also known as DUBSTEP

Re: Official "Not Awarded Tix" Thread
Last year I bought four Pre-Sale Burning Man tickets. I gave two away and sold the other two at face value due of health issues ( I was unable to attend.) I donated to Black Rock ARTs fund. I also donated over $1000.00 to different art projects (some of which have yet to follow through on their end!) This year BM went to a lottery system for tickets to which I applied for two and WAS NOT SELECTED. Thus, I am sure that the people behind BM ARE NUTS and NO I WILL NOT "try" again to get tickets as they so "warmly" suggest. Burning Man: FAIL!

Re: Official "Not Awarded Tix" Thread
I am sure there is an answer to this but... Why didn't they just level the playing field and average out the price of all the tickets so some people don't get stuck with a $390 bill. LAME! A ticket tiered systems make sense when they are trying to get numbers, clearly not the case.

My email says that if I want to sell my ticket through step, ( I don't ) I have to sell it at face value, "minus restocking fees".packlet wrote:The worst is that STEP requires the person selling it back to the community to LOSE $$$. Imagine how much that will piss people off. You would think that BMORG, having created this mess, would suck it up and pay the fee.
In all fairness, if i had an extra ticket to sell, i would NEED to sell at what i paid for it (including fees).

Yeah it isn't the BMORG who will haul you off, it will be the BLM rangers and the local LEOs. That won't be fun. No one will build the city around you. Playa's pretty big if you're outside the closure area, so there's a thought. Lots of BLM land in the West, have at an Orphan Burn. Go to Tahiti. Run around nekkid in your backyard.Ack Shuel Lee wrote:Last year I bought four Pre-Sale Burning Man tickets. We are in the same predicament. I registered for 2 and missed out.
Planning a Playa wedding is a challenge in itself but not winning tickets is just shattering.
Our Friend who became an ordained minister to wed us this year got a ticket. Sounds like his free on the 31/08 now.
Fingers crossed our dreams come true and we get "home" to enjoy our wedding day.

Make the tickets non-transferable, one per person. Problem solved.
