Dear BMORG: Please publish who is getting the 10,000 ticket

Dear BMORG,

After you have determined how the 10,000 tickets will be distributed, please release the names of the theme camps/artists/mutant vehicles who received tickets in the manual distribution that were previously slotted for the "open sale".

I'd like to see where exactly these tickets went and what these people are bringing to the playa that is more important than anyone else.

I would like to appeal to the BMORG to make public a list of which theme camps, art projects, mutant vehicles, and volunteer groups received the tickets as well as a breakout of how many. This kind of transparency is the only way to account for the back room process that was recently employed to distribute the last 10,000 tickets that were originally allotted to the general public. You already publish which art projects receive grant funding every year and similar rationale applies here.

Would anyone else like to know which camps, art projects, MVs got received an allotment of tickets?

Perhaps that is your anger you are projecting. Personally, I would like to know how these tickets are being distributed. I think it is important that this major decision that affects the whole community be done in transparency. It appears you prefer back room dealing. This would also provide a certain amount of public accountability to this process. I mean if they are truly dedicated to shifting from a for-profit private partnership to a 501c non-profit organization they need to get used to being more transparent and more accountable to the community. This would definitely serve that purpose.

What back room dealing? The criteria are well stated. Based on that, I'm willing to trust the people that run the event to decide what they think will contibute to the event.

the difference? people would be able to spread the blame around to more than just the 'borg' or the 'bmorg' ..they would begin to also find more reason dislike the camps/projects/mvs/performers/volunteers who dared to receive the offer of assistance from the LLC

you can see this coming about already when people are referring to these people/groups as 'friends of larry' or 'the elites' or 'VIPs'.. and 'back room dealings' ...among other ideas.. none of that is positive..

many people would just use this info to further bolster these negative claims and also further justify how butthurt they are about the whole situation ..i can already foresee the reactions: 'see!! just /LOOK/ at who they REALLY picked!! what am i, chopped liver!?'

the truth, in my mind, is that there really is no real reason for this info to go out... we would gain nothing that would really be of any tangible benefit.. transparency for transparencies sake doesnt work here, not with the heightened emotions we are already witnessing, and not with the potential for abuse of this information... (there is no real potential for abuse by stating how much they paid for JOTS/medical/grants/blm fees)

i saw something i read as being said in jest when a person said 'we can see who is doing it right' .. but really that mindset is, in my mind, just one that serves to justify a belief that the choices made mean the ones not chosen are doing it wrong and therefore excluded

the truth is people/groups/projects are only excluded in this process because of scarcity of resources... we cant pick everyone.. and we saw how happy everyone was with a 'random' (i.e. fair) selection in the lottery.

releasing this info would cause more discontent and more reasons for the naysayers to be even more entrenched ..we neednt feed those bears

A lot of people who get selected to receive acccess to tickets are probablly the dedicated folks who come early and stay late setting up and cleaning up the city.

I have to think that the people who complain about how tickets are being distributed have no idea how a temporality city is made for them to enjoy.

I'm not sure how much celebrating they will be doing. The tickets that they are allowed to buy are the highest level ones---$390 each. Add that to all the other expenses, and who knows how many of them can afford to attend this year. The people who bust their butts to build these large camps are all in the same position as the rest of us, just trying to get tickets and entry.

Generally speaking tickets that go out to volunteers (or the like) are not included in the number of tickets for sale to the public. The total number of tickets that goes out to these people is listed somewhere for public view. I just can't remember where.. But it is listed.
