Re: Who snagged the last 1,000 tickets?
As per the terms and conditions of the ticket sale, Burning Man reserves the right to cancel the sale of any purchase it believes was made with the intention of reselling above face value.
As a consumer, if you do not agree with these terms, don't agree to them and make the purchase.

@Observer: so did you buy cancelled tickets? How did you get ripped off? I see you posted that somewhere else.
I'm not a slut, I'm good time floozy!
Re: Who snagged the last 1,000 tickets?
Been waiting for one STEP ticket (12:21:44), with nothing that I was able to access locally since I received my notification email.
I was able to register on the open sale and was able to buy one ticket. Registered without difficulty. (I checked with Partiserv and was told this was OK as a STEPchild.)
I clicked in today right after 1200 PST, first on Safari and, maybe 10 minutes later, saw people were having problems with Safari so tried Firefox on a separate machine (um, TorBrowser, actually - was not trying to be sneaky, that's just my other browser, obviously I had to turn on JS and allow cookies.)
Possibly random chance, or not, Firefox came through a few minutes after I tried that, and I did receive my single ticket.
Safari never stopped showing me a scrolling bar the whole time I clicked through with Firefox/TB, but I closed Safari down (moment of blind faith on my part) once I reached the token window.
If STEP later notifies me I've received an option, I'll roll it over to the next STEPper in line.
Now I have to go engage in a lot of frantic travel arranging, dog-sitting-planning, and stuff....
insert Snoopy-happy-dance here
Anyway, this is a great relief, and many thanks and a lot of cookies, flowers, and whiskey are due to all the ticket/organization people who made it happen.
Now hoping it works out for everyone else.

Holy crap. Is that sale STILL open? I guess being glued to my screen at 11:59am yesterday ended up being total overkill. =p
Edit: Oh, never mind. The button apparently leads to a page not found now.

Just so everyone knows, the sale button on tickets.burningman.com is still fucked. Use the link trilobyte gives here instead.

Great news, Arnoldo. Congrats to you and your campmates!
Re: Who snagged the last 1,000 tickets?
This just breaks my heart. It seems very reasonable to me that two married people would use the same credit card # to buy tickets with. Many couples have only one VISA or Mastercard. I hope you get your tickets somehow! If you can't get the cancellation reversed or get tickets through STEP, maybe someone in the tickets offered section of e-playa will hook you up.justinsc wrote:I just got this notice too ..dougnaka wrote:Umm.... scary, bad news....
My friend just got an email with no explanation that his tickets were cancelled...
Tickets have been cancelled and a total of $409 has been credited to your account for:
(1) $390.00 - Burning Man 2012 - Burning Man 2012
In my case, my wife and I both used to same credit card to purchase our ticket today, and I think someone out there thinks that means we don't count as 2 people. It certainly wasn't clear to me that 'Billing Information' had to be unique for 2 married people ...

Re: Who snagged the last 1,000 tickets?
Saturday was the cut off date for the last 1,000 tickets. Less than 3 weeks before gate opens. I got my award letter for a low income ticket but not a confirmation number letter as yet. How long will it take them to check that low income people have not obtained a ticket elsewhere ? I am beginning to worry about the remaining time. I intend to leave on the 23rd.

Re: Who snagged the last 1,000 tickets?
The open sale closed last night. Once the ticket team is able to finish scrubbing the lists (as well as all the other stuff they need to do during this busy time of year), they'll get those secondary confirmations out.
