So, I'm supposed to inflate my air mattress before I go to the playa? No wonder they always deflated part way through the week...

omg
never thought of that!

Thank you
I used to haul truckloads of Frito-Lay products from their plant in Fresno, CA, to their plant in Denver. ("Internal transfer of product.") We were required to take I-80, and to stop in Laramie, WY, and weigh the load -- not for the weight, but to generate a document that proved we had been thru Laramie. They still opened the trailer immediately on arrival to inspect the load.

Because... once in a while, some fool driver would "save time" by going I-70 thru Vail, and every last bleeping bag of chips in a packed-full 53 foot trailer would be ruined.

Much, much earlier in my life I left Washington DC in a 1962 Rambler stationwagon that I had rigged up with curtains and an air mattress for camping on the road. First stop, Detroit. Somewhere along the way, climbing mountains, a tremendous bang scared me half witless. The air mattress had blown up. Good times.

Edit to add: No, Fishy.

I reckon the use depends on whose using them, child restraint and marital aid come first to my mind.

I've finally taken the second step and dragged two totes, a triple garbage bagged mass that appears to be my tarps, another that I suspect is my sleeping bag/tent, and two gas canisters out of the shed. I've also eyed the cot, a gravity chair, a folding table and a plastic crate come bicycle basket in the garage. I'm working tonight but then off until Sunday afternoon by which time I'm hoping to have done a mock setup of tent/MH, inventoried everything, made a round one shopping list and hotel reservations. Oh and also having the car checked out.

I know it's more than one but I've some catching up to do as to date all I've done is buy the ticket and pondered possibilities.

Gathering re-bar and making covers today. I'd add more to my list, but I have concerns about how long it's going to take me to troubleshoot with this length of el-wire....

New deck boards for the Land Yacht's trailer... jeez 20-foot pressure treated 2x6s aren't free these days! But if it didn't get 'em, the boat would have fallen through the old ones.

OK, on to the next expensive fucking thing to attend to for this goddamm party...

I got a pretty odd look from the cashier at Home Depot when I had 10 giant nails, 100 feet of rope, 2 tarps, and a gallon jug of Muriatic Acid.

I told her "It's been a long week"

She didn't laugh.

They chuckled at the checkout a few times because I've now bought a few sets of 16-foot 2-gauge jumper cables - they thought I must run down a lot of batteries. They chuckle even more when I explain I can't buy that much 2-gauge wire at this price, so I'm just cutting the clamps off, tossing them in the trash, and using the wire!

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

Where does the acid fall into the scheme of things?
Are we stripping paint from a pool or something?

Close I think they're for temp holding larger wood during framing.
Or for temp holding railroad ties for building retaining walls and landscaping shit.

Change in plans, now Omaha instead of Des Moines. $25 cheaper on lodging (staying consistent with chain for points), the potential for a good steak and I won't even have to slow down in Iowa. Win-win-win.

All hotels booked on the inbound trip, Google map with exact addresses created and entered into GPS.

Road trip!

They're called landscaping nails here, so I assumed they're used for holding down the weed mat stuff.

Illy: I use the Muriatic Acid to lower the pH in my pool. It's usually cheaper at HD than the pool supply stores around here. You can also use it to wash the pool surface prior to painting. Also etches concrete.

They're galvanized and cost 70 cents each at my local HD. I left some playa'd ones on the ground outside from last year, went and collected them the other day and they still looked like new. They pull out of the playa pretty easily straight up, but should be good for some ground cover or angled auxiliary guy lines.

The last time I used some for anything was building a tree house.

I believe the large nails you are talking about are for fastening rain gutters to the side of the fascia boards. They usually go all the way thru the rain gutter and then into the fascia boards about 1.5"
