I think these are a little beefier than that. Here's one next to an army tent stake:

Yes, I think your right. The rain gutter nails are of aluminum and appear of a lighter weight. Vise grips should be able to remove it, if used on the Playa.

Weight? Ha, why not, I have a scale right there...these are 6.1oz/174g.

The grips at the top end of the nail make me think that maybe they are gutter spikes. That would be where it would hold the gutter a bit. Maybe just a higher grade spike.

The last time I used some for anything was building a tree house.

Probably way too expensive for the Bay Bridge.

At least the opening party is now delayed, it was going to be the same weekend as Burning Man.

Planned and booked my return trip again going the loneliest road route (thanks guys, I'm really looking forward to doing that again). Took some shit from my Chicago-based friends and have added that to the return trip. I know I know you people longer than my daughter... so fucking what... it's gonna cost you (think Charlie Trotters).

Did some impromptu shopping:

Supplemented my "costumes" with like items:
Image

Found these neat tote s at Wallyworld, not too big, hinged and latches (with a lock hasp! Like one couldn't just cut through the plastic) $10 per. Yeehaw! No more bungeed tops askew.

Image

Checked out tarps - good to go.

Monkey hut raised in the backyard - I need to retape, fine tune some marks and replace a shade pole:

Tomorrow the tent get a once over and the totes get opened.

You guys are killin me. I'm sitting here drinking wine. NO. I haven't looked over my costumes & shit. NO. I haven't perused the the tent that needs sewing or the projects that need finishing. I love to watch people work. Soon I'll go into panic mode. The man burns in how many days? Minus 8 days for my travel. Yikes! Look, There's some left in the bottle. Mmmmmmm.

I'm with Ratty. I just bought new battery-powered LED string lights, and that is as much prep as I have done. I've got bins of things down in the storage room that I should go through... "soon", and I should probably make those gifts I wanted to get done... "soon". I work better in panic mode, so I have a couple of weeks.

Comfy new giant futon mattress arrived and tested, for playa luxury.

Giant round wool rug arrived for the hexayurt, also for playa luxury.

Playa necessities? Such as replacing front drive axles, repacking trailer bearings, flushing brake lines, booking hotel, fixing goggles, finishing art project, etc etc? Zero done.

Finished the spreadsheet of what I need to buy and where I have to buy it.
Made a map of my waypoints between Sacramento airport and BRC so I can pick up said items in an efficient and ordered manner (yeah well I can dream).

Four weeks and one day and I've got to hit the road.
Car needs: flex plate, starter, short in high-beams, head-light switch, power-steering pump, trans cooler, two ball joints, windshield fluid pump/reservoir, new carb, a/c (think it's going to be the hand swamp-cooler again - rag over the blower output and a spray bottle).
At least I have all the parts except the trans cooler and a/c parts.

And I have all my supplies except emergen-c.

Need to install the lift actuator into the trailer so I don't drop the top on myself like I did last year. Every first aid kit should have Super Glue.

I'm headed out to the yard to set up tents. I have so many and I don't know what they are. Somebody wants 3 of them. Yippie!! Lighten my load.

Despite being busy all morning I haven't accomplished anything playa related other than picking up and then putting back a package of a dozen pairs of socks figuring I already have a drawer full of them and only own two feet.

What I did discover is that Big Lots is discounting all their solar and garden stuff 30%, it was slim pickin's in mine unless you're looking for the stick in the ground path lights which they had more than you can shake a stick at @ $1.40 each on the lower end.

If I'm in any condition after an afternoon surprise pool party I will setup the tent (famous last words).
