Yeah, no joke! Clearly she knows what shes talking about.

Eric thanks for the tip.

Sewed my pretty Buddha patch onto a vest I scored at Goodwill for the exorbitant price of.. $1.99.

Bleached my hair, but didn't lift all the green. Now I look like minty toothpaste. Second round of bleach tonight, more sewing, cleaning up my clusterfuck of an apartment, and packing! I may not sleep much, if at all.

Except for the terrible piano music at Nordstrom, (and the prices) one can find some good stuff there sometimes. It seems like a pretty good place to work as retail goes. I worked for years in little boutiques...lousy pay but eventually I got to learn how to do the window displays and the buying. Now, post-retail career, I LOVE MY WEEKENDS!

Just a couple of current projects, more photos later. I'm almost finished with the boot covers.

I have Nordstroms back in my ancestry, distantly related to the original store owners. Very, very distantly.

My grandmother used to be a dressmaker for ZCMI, before womens' dresses were off the rack. Mom could sew beautifully too, she made most of my clothes when I was little. I barely have any talent for it. I wish my grandmother was alive when my interest in sewing finally kicked in.

Will leave work in one and a half hours to go pick up stuff for my riders. Will then pick them up at 10 in the AM, and we're off.

taking water jugs over to sister's house to put in chest freezer tonight. F i n a l l y got my tires and water cage for trike fed ex today. not the ones I originally wanted, but it's what they did have on hand and they are cool... red to silver reflective fade with silver dots I did get the flames one for the front tire. They are really silvery and reflective in my dark closet with a flashlight peeping in, so should show up well at night when light is directed at them. Tomorrow I need to finish the trike, and the boombox. Got stamps for postcards today, still need to print them up. Ink cartridge and postcard blanks first on list for tomorrow. Food shopping is all done. Got my trail mix made, need to cold brew my coffee concentrate. Looks like it's going to work out. The "I'm not worried if I don't finish" feeling kicked in last night, so it's all good. Shopped a bit at work after I finished today... brackets, copper plumbers tape (the sexy kind,) 1x2 for anchoring a basket to the trike, a yellow "grey" water container (five gallon gas and kerosene cans are less expensive than blue plastic water containers... sister said, "bring it over" and we'll spray paint it up with all her leftover spray paints,) and a garden fish playing a saxophone for 3 dollars. looks like it needs a little day-glo touch up for adoptibility, um batteries, and an extra blue tarp, few more rebar stakes, a couple of bricks... what am I going to forget?

they are actually more red irl.

Tomorrow's our last work day before blast off. I just realized today that I've been working on this trip since the day we bought our tickets, Feb 14th!!! Frankly I'm tired of getting ready, I want to be there and see/do/be it all!

Damn Emily- cute spats!

Okay, almost done packing. Just need to pack my clothes & booze, and I'm already. We load the RV tomorrow afternoon, and head off at 3am(ish) on Sunday.

Freaking out- I think I'm ready, I've done this before, but..... crap...... what am I forgetting??. I know there's something, and it's not on my checklists.

Probably just my sanity.

Not just you, I'm in the same boat. I must be forgetting a huge list of things.

I did, however, screw up big time... I didn't get around to putting the rooftop carrier (soft bag-style) on my car until tonight. My previous car (Grand Cherokee) had a roof rack, my Element does not (at the moment). "No problem," thinks I, "I'll just use the clips that I miraculously found while packing and hook it to the rails like on a normal car." Except the clips won't stay on the funkiness that is an Element.

Crap! I have one day to find a roof rack for my car!!! I hate to pay dealer full price (assuming I find one with them in stock), but I may have no choice. Although there is a sale at REI... tough call between the nice simple OEM rack and the aftermarket racks. The way I use them, the factory rack kinda makes more sense... and would probably make less wind noise.

Oy. Just what I needed on the last day.

Emily, you're hilarious.

I haven't done one thing, any day, since last Sunday.

Today, I'm going to try and take off work tomorrow.

Last night, I found out my friend (one of them) who died LOVED Fallout 3, which is what my camp is based on, and of course he loved Star Trek (Maria's eulogy began with a quote from "his hero, Captain James T. Kirk") and I'm camped near the Enterprise art car. So now I have some ashes...and Jay's coming with me Monday.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH monday.

Yesterday she began his eulogy, "I want to quote J's hero, Capt. James Tiberious Kirk..."

It was awesome.

She ended with Tolkien.

It was amazing......a red dress is one thing I didn't get to finish, to wear on the Enterprise art car :(

oh HELL YES C.f.M.!

How about connecting a red longsleeve top and red shorts (slit into a skirt) made into Uhura's dress? She is decidedly NOT a "red shirt". She's the Red Queen!

Wait...what? I can't believe I never noticed this before. She wears both red and gold!

Picked up some ten inch nails to hold the ground tarp to the ground in our shade area. Also picked up some Glass Chalk, a temporary paint sponge marker, to purdy up the windows. Unless I remember anything else, the last item will be dry ice tomorrow. Oh yah - almost forgot - food and booze run tonight.

picked up my truck from budget this morning. Was supposed to be a 10 footer. When i went in the other day to pay and confirm reservation, lady told me i might have to take a 15 footer but wouldn't charge me more for it. So i said that was fine.
Went in this morning and no truck-Reno hadn't sent it out yet. So i gots me a huge 25 footer. Geez my shit is gonna be rollin around back there, but i guess i feel safer in this big old truck. Wonder if i can spy any burners in Ferntucky who need stuff taken out to brc...

We saw a couple carrying some water jugs, and took a nosy peak in their cart, definitely last minute burn supplies.

We leave in 10 hours. So we'll see you all in 34 hours! I CAN"T FUCKING WAIT!!!!!!!

Gettin' up at 4 a.m. tomorrow to be by airport @ 5 a.m. for 6 a.m. flight...want to go to bed as early as I can, it's going to be a long, anxiety-riddled day.

I'm pretty much packed, there's some overflow to deal with.

The main problem was I didn't get the cloak I was making for nights finished, so now I have to figure out a coat and all that stuff (the cloak was to have pockets especially designed for carrying stuff)...my friend came up from another town to help me through the 1-week anniversary of what happened, but he's been more of a distraction than a help.

And I am sitting at work with NOTHING TO DO but keep the to-do list growing...!!
