I have a cute monster lunchbox that just fits 4 lexan slim 10oz flasks, each with a different absinthe. The bottom of the lunchbox unzips and has room for a couple of fancy slotted spoons and a ziploc of sugar cubes and a small jigger. The monster water bottle clips onto the lunchbox handle with a carabiner. Bring yr own cup and try properly louched absinthe with a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio!

Today I finally set up the carport for the first time in 2 years. All the pieces were there & in the process I got covered in Playa dust, probably ruined a pair of shorts, & I could feel my hands desiccate as the dust sucked every bit of moisture out of them until they stung.

It was GREAT!

Ordered a 10 pack of 5hr energy, opened box of dried fruit and ziploc'd it into the breakfast bin, opened box of rubbermaid cereal keepers for cooler n ice mgmt and washed them out with soap n water and put them on top of cooler to dry.

Added getting more monkey hut ribs to my Saturday schedule. I decided not to trust the 7.5 foot spine sections, gonna cut em down to the time tested 5 feet and add 2 more ribs n spine sections.

Shopped for the 2 meals for 25 I'm making for my camp, packed the non-cooler items in a bin, made the spice baggie for the chili, chopped n froze onions for ditto. Couldn't vac seal the chopped onions, too juicy. I put the bag in the freezer in a Ziploc and will seal it after it's frozen.

Also reviewed packing list and to do list. Gotta do a bit of bike repair this weekend, install the new brake pads n tighten the handlebars.

The food, clothes, and gift bins are mostly packed. The kitchen box is good to go, and so is our bedding and oven.

Still need art. Lots and lots of art.

Got some lights for a hitch cargo rack for safety reasons. Got a vacuum sealer for packing food. Bought some master links for my bike chain so I don't have to deal with reconnecting links manually.

Didn't do this or buy that. Haven't finished anything. Stalling, procrastinating. Haven't even cleaned out the van so I can think about packing. Hmmmmmm. Not lazy. Maybe I'm wrong and this shit really WILL pack it's self.

* 6 individual packs of 20 Wet Ones.
* 6 56-ct. packages of Huggies Natural Care (i.e. two large triple packs) . . . I love these, they snap shut and consequently don't dry out.


Any Noobs Reading this: If you've already got 1 big refill-size giant bag instead, put the whole thing in a large slider bag and seal both. If the inner bag fails, the outer bag probably won't. It works nearly as well!

Not as fun: a regular plastic box of any wipes. For some reason, after the magic evaporates, mere water doesn't reconstitute it as well. Maybe water AND vinegar would, or water AND aloe.

And of course: Never put wipes in the portos; bring a ziploc in your biffy bag.

The only prep I did today was to put a NOAA weather tab for Gerlach into my usual browser tabs, so I can check it obsessively for the next 3 weeks. Holy s**t, only 3 weeks!! Gotta get a lot done this weekend...

Refilling propane tanks for cooking, nitrogen tank for air tools on the RMC & Argon/CO2 mix tank for the welder. Welding up a new trailer jack stand/flag pole holder.

Final mechanical/lube check on the truck & basic cleaning/supplies check of the RMC is this weekend.

Made 4 more ribs+extensions+sleeves and 2 more spine sections for the monkey hut, cut down the existing 4 sections so now I have 5 foot spacing between ribs, which is standard and will likely be more stable than my previous 7.5 foot spacing.

More shopping-- juice and chia packs, and filled up my new lexan flask with Kraken. Later today I have a laser cutter appointment at TechShop MP to make signs for our camp kitchen and my usual camp tag gifts (year, camp name, location) for folks to put on bikes, backpacks, etc.

It was successful!
Charged to about 75% from empty in 6 hours of sunlight in IL.

I can't believe you've never done wood-working before. This is a dangerous thing for someone like me (who completely lacks experience) to see.



My "One Item a Day" for yesterday . . . . Bought some canned goods, gallon bags, 2.5 gallon bags, kleenex and 1-ply.

Looked for a new pair of playa boots and failed . . .
