I've been wrapped in five layers of fleece, a hotrodded down vest- Feathered Friends, a coat and two heavy quilts, plus everything else handy and thought I was going to freeze to death.
Hits the coldest right at dawn and then warms up fast.

I meant don't count on it being as warm as 47 on any night.

One night in the fire conclave right next to a big burner, I shivered all night, it was so cold.
Other nights that burn weren't so cold.

I know in Hawaii everyone stays inside if it gets below 75.

That was a big propane burner, just to be clear.
At least 100,000 btus and it was only warm when the wind slowed a bit.
A freezing night, but I was having too much fun to leave.

It's mostly because people will be dressed for the hot desert = naked and or shorts, T-shirt etc., and be unprepared for any dramatic dip in temperature. Also, I think that in the desert, you get acclimatized to the heat and you may lose your acclimatization to cold.

The things people ingest out there have a lot to do with body temp also...
