There are things like this that are made out of plastic that may work well for you Miss Fishy.

If you cant find that Shambala I have some old conveyor belt rubber that I can cut into manageable pieces and add some bolts or screws for traction.
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

There is a retail store locally that has them. I will look tomorrow, and if they are reasonable enough, I'll buy them and gift them to our dear fishy. Sooooo, I went to the store and picked up a pair of these traction plates. I will be bringing them to the playa and gift them to Miss Fishy instead of the cheap plastic whistle from Oriental Trading that I was going to give her!
