I'm not so worried about the infection as I am about the wound drying out & cracking (playa foot from hell?). I get cracked & dried cuticles on my hands from the dust, I can only imagine that on a raw toe...andy wrote:I'm not a doctor, but I do know that the desert is one of the LEAST infectious places on earth. It's not teeming with organisms and bacteria. (I learned this from a video about desert survival after a plane crash - which was actually a management training exercise rather than intended to teach actual survival). I actually think you'll do fine.

Tue, 15 Jul 2014 , and the accident was on Monday 14 July. I think by the end of August you'll be pretty used to how it feels, and the strategies you use when you have to wear footwear, and how it is feeling better. I would go for sure!

need to have the acceptance letter. applications close on the 31st--if I remember from previous years and they haven't changed it.remi wrote:See if you can get one of those handicap parking passes. In 2003 I dropped a set of three railer tire chains, for semi duals, on my left foot while wearing "tennis shoes". My big toe has never been the same. Every few years it falls off.

Fuuuuuuuck. Why did I say this? So some animal got in our house last night, my wife screamed, I jumped out of bed and twisted my ankle. Badly. Doctor's appointment today. If only I could create self-fulfilling prophecies in other areas of my life.skippy3k wrote:Weeks before leaving for the playa (as in....oh....right about today) I begin to get a little paranoid about getting sick or hurt.

A twisted ankle? You'll make it. Back in February I twisted my left ankle at work. I heard two cracks and went down. Was on light duty for two weeks.
