One piece of advice I got about rain on the playa is to put wood under your car tires when you park. This helps avoid getting stuck in the mud if there are heavy rains!

Actually, rain should be the least of your worries. Worry about earthquakes. See, the water table isn't very far below the surface of the playa. In case of an earthquake the entre thing will liquify and all of Blackrock City will sink into a giant pool of quicksand ... well, quickmuck. What should I bring to survive THAT? I think I will sleep inside an inflatable life raft.

yeah, liquifaction in an earthquake is the worst problem. The Man will tip, most of the structures in center camp will be sucked under, and vehicles will quickly disappear into the muck. My only hope is that it hits at night when I'm asleep.

Well, rain and earthquakes and lightning that chases you around the playa striking the ground just behind you no matter where you run and, and, and, evil out of control art cars that chase people and have no visible driver while other people dose you with squirtguns and women point their tits at you and stuff. It can get pretty scary out there. Better stay home.
