Bought a folding hammock to use in place of the pain in the ass cot for daytime napping.

Got two meters of blue EL wire! It doesn't seem bright enough, so I placed an order for an additional two meters of yellow EL wire.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
The thing about EL-wire is it always doesn't seem bright enough in Defaultia. To get a better sense of the stuff, try going into a windowless room (bathroom, basement, garage, etc) and turn out the lights. The playa isn't quite that dark, but it's close. That being said, you can never have enough EL-wire - even if it winds up getting used for some other project that stuff is fun. Where LED's tend to be brighter and higher contrast (and can be a little jarring), the light from EL-wire has a more subtle and magical feel to it.

Bought two meters of apple green faux fur, opened a Paypal account, bought a strand of 100 solar LED fairy lights, 2-9 foot strands of blue el wire, and four 6 foot stands of green el wire.

BiMart has a full size net hammock for under $20.

Got the RMA sorted for the kitchen gear that arrived with 'battle damage' - the replacement will be here next week. When possible, it's always a good idea to knock out the big stuff and the 'unknown quantity' stuff early on, so that way if there are problems with the order there's plenty of time to get issues sorted out.

Sat with our camp lead today and helped him get our theme camp application in. We were almost done and the entire thing disappeared (timed out) so had to start again. He was annoyed but we perservered and I'm happy to report that Art Car Camp is registered! Hope you'll all stop by and help us celebrate our big 20th year in Black Rock City!

So I was gifted this dome tent that has nasty netting on top...

Here's the panel I sewed over the netting from the inside.
It isn't pretty but it will keep out dust. Even has a zipper to open the vent.

Good job Joeln! It's worth the effort. I know it's not easy to sew on tents.

Where did they find picture frames large enough to shade an entire tent?

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Since we are trading the cot for a folding hammock, we now have no place to store our two working stuff bins (safety and lights). We get into them all the time, so storing them up in the trailer sucks. Looking at making a wooden daybed lounger thing, the bins can go under and it is seating which can double up as a nap platform.Replaces the second cot. You know, the one which rarely gets put up because the cots are such a hassle.
Yep, one more thing.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
@Joeln - camping under a shade structure isn't cheating, it's very wise. We build and bring a few thousand square feet of conduit frame shade for our camp too. The gaps between the tarps will make for little lines of sunshine that heat things up fairly uncomfortably, if that's a picture of their shade and they use 10' square tarps instead of one big one for the roof you may want to pick up a few yards of cheap fabric to tuck into those gaps. Congrats on the tent btw.
Congrats on getting the questionnaire in for Art Car camp, EmilyD! That's on my list of things to do this week. How was Brides?
@AntiM - I know the feeling... every time I try to simplify, I find I'm really just paving the way for some other project. But daybed loungers can be awesome, if you go that route.
I got a bunch of work on a few arty/design projects, some camp-related. And then got to have a dinner/meeting with one of our campmates last night, talking through our plans as well as tossing around ideas and taking a bunch of measurements for a coat project.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
If things go as planned (ha), we will have a sumptuous, good looking camp this year. The front will be much the same, but the shade just gets better and better (and longer to pack/set up/tear down/repack/ clean).

Yeah, but the setup/teardown time is worth it if you ask me. As long as it doesn't become completely unmanageable, that is.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
This morning I was finally able to sit down and finish all the revisions I needed to make for my camp's layout. Once I had that, I was able to get my notes together and fill out the placed camp questionnaire. Huzzah!
Beyond that, a replacement shipment arrived today with some kitchen equipment that I'd ordered previously (it had arrived with damage). New one's perfect, and has been assembled, with plenty of time for testing and whatnot. I've already made a custom cart for it in Defaultia, but will probably want to design something else for it on the playa.

Picked up four EL-wire sample kits at a garage sale of all things.

I'm making a Mohawk! I'm insanely excited, as I got them at a great price and have been planning on picking up a few for a while now. I'm going to order two more, because I like overkill.
