Re: One Item for BM a Day
Got a bunch of lights at Big Lots on discount, nice ... close to settling on shade structure dimensions. Who knew that one would iterate as many times as it has? So far, 110 degree Gable, 12Wx20Lx6.5H 1" EMT with Valance Tarp; four rafters/uprights for stability. Will probably start a thread for feedback on final dimensions and structural tips. I need to get the shade structure locked in so we can plan the decoration. Went to a cool upholstery fabric store that had all kinds of potential for hiding uprights and rafters of structure.
This is really fun!

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Thanks - we've been having a lot of fun exploring outside our normal palette of colors and textures as we toy with steam-tastic designs.
@48_love - there's no limit to the number of iterations you'll run across with shade structures, trust me
I made a few medium peak roof structures in year past (to accommodate a dome we used to have in camp), I had an 18.5" width without any trouble. 12' should work well for you guys, and the conduit frame is generally pretty easy for adding decor and lighting.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Just bought a package of 1,000 pieces of 10mm white 360,000mcd LEDs...while not all of that is for Burning Man, I'm sure several of them will find their way into some kind of product I'll make for it. ...LED chandelier for the dome maybe?
Re: One Item for BM a Day
I couldn't handle it anymore...
I finally got my shit straight and I registered for two at $390....I'll be happy at any price.
I need three tickets so my wife registered for two more at $240 only. If we win these, I pledge to gift my extra ticket!!!!
gah...now I have to wait!

Washed a number of bottle caps.
Sorry, I'm still a bit worn out from announcing the theme last week.

75% off sale! Thanks for the tip! I had to run by Big Lots on the way back from work. Unfortunately all the good LED Christmas lights were snarfed up, so no item for BM. I did pick up a gazillion rolls of wrapping paper for $4, which will free up funds next December.48_love wrote:Got a bunch of lights at Big Lots on discount, nice ...

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Yep, me too, name in the hat for Monday's draw.
Re: One Item for BM a Day
I purchased a nice new roll of fishing line to start my el wire project. One box of "large" zip locks at the dollar store, and a container of pretty colored zip ties. My fun fur pile is sitting, partly cut to make hats. I need to find a place to set up my sewing machine...

Re: One Item for BM a Day
yep, me too. just registered. Now about the survey... guess I can't get my most current info from eplaya? and according to my options there, I've never participated much, although I think I have. just not in a theme camppppp. huh. guess I'll have to be more conspicuous.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
I found my "walking around" cup and gave it a good wash. I am so glad I found it because it wasn't in my BM kitchen and I haven't seen another like it in any store. It's a stainless steel mug with a carabiner handle and a screw top lid. It's not very big, but perfect to take to center camp for a mocha, or belly up to a bar with.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Oldguy - the draw may not begin on Monday. Once registration closes up on Sunday, the lists need to be de-duped and then scrubbed to remove scammers and scalpers. That could take a day or two. Keep an eye on the ticket discussion board, I'll likely start up a new
Don't sweat that silly survey, Elorrum, it certainly wasn't meant to be any kind of judgy thing. Just some folks within the BMOrg who wanted to take a crack at better understanding the people participating in each round.
And woohoo for locating the missing cup, danibel. I hate it when a favorite playa thing goes missing, though in my case it usually turns up about a week after I get home.. d'oh!
Thanks for the kind words on the outfits. The world's faire is tonight, so hopefully some completed outfit and people-in-outfit pics soon. The buttons and tie tack (which was a submarine, not an airship) FINALLY arrived this afternoon. In the interests of time, we finished off the coat with some other buttons that we had laying around (we make all kinds of fun stuff, when I find buttons I like I usually stock up a little) but will probably try to circle back and swap them out with the late arrivals. I'm really loving the little tie tack.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
And… here's a pic of the two of us wearing the outfits we'd been working on at last night's shindig. Really great night, kudos to the Edwardian Organizers for putting on a really incredible event.

We'll probably make half a dozen tweaks and adjustments to each piece between now and the playa, but we're looking forward to strolling along the Esplanade in our finery

Re: One Item for BM a Day
We had an unexpected baby free day, so we built a bar. Tomorrow we make MyDearFriend's bench, and paint the bar.
Then that is IT for furniture and I get to get back to dyeing things. Yippee!

Thank you guys, we really had a great time. Not just at the event, but in the weeks leading up to it as everything came together.

So how was the vending? I might have gone if I hadn't had an annoying cold. And of course, that total hating reality thing.
