If you use kitty litter, then you better pack it out with you. Kitty litter is sodium (or calcium) bentonite clay, aka montmorillite. Dump that stuff in any Burningman porto and RobbiDobbs will watusi on your punkin head when it screws-up the gloppita-gloppita machine. Or busts a tanker hose.

Likewise, dont use any aldehyde-based odor killer. When added to a porto with an incompatible enzyme-based deodorant, the result is formaldehyde gas, which is very quickly lethal in an enclosed space.

Best advice: Piss in the fookin' bottle and close the top. Dump it in the AM and you are done. No need to get fancy. Its Burning Man. Nobody smells like a flower after 30 minutes in the dust. So deal with it.

we use something similar to that product for ice melt. Several stray cats around and neighbors walking their dogs

Regardless of what system is used, in the end, the bottle can still be recycled.
