When I was in high school, it was socks. White socks were suspect, which is why the Blues Brothers were so very extra hilarious to me later, when I was in the Navy.Ugly Dougly wrote:Look at the shoes, man! You can always tell a pig by his shoes man.
That's why they call it the Stupid Tax.AntiM wrote:Best story was the guy who sheltered up against a vehicle in a whiteout, lit up a fattie to pass the time. It was a BLM vehicle, very occupied. I bet they had to quit laughing before they got out to bust the kid.

No, he's right. Being "clever" with a cop is just plain stupid. Most of them just want to make sure things run smoothly, and it's called the stupid tax for a reason. You have to be stupid to do something so blatantly they have no choice but to bust you (my story similar to AntiM's is the BLM vehicle some hippie decided to pee on, not noticing the LEO's were right behind him watching. Normally it's a warning, he got a fine)Canoe wrote:It seems that somebody is still in high school, or trolling for info for a promotion?some seeing eye wrote:Please Burners, do not try to antagonize or trick the playa cops. And, of course, they are professionals and people are trying to pull that "clever" shit with them daily or more often. Plus, they talk shop with other cops who also run into a lot of people trying to pull "clever" shit. You're unlikely pull something new.Eric wrote:Being "clever" with a cop is just plain stupid.
My interactions with police have led me to adopt a similar idea, but modified slightly.Eric wrote:Don't be a dick to them & they have no reason to be a dick to you (usually).
I really don't like how you've characterized us here. We spend a lot of time and money over the year getting ready to go to burningman. Relations with LEO is one of the weaknesses that could change or maybe even kill the event. and that has an extra edginess for us right now. Plus, we're all wound up in crunch time. You're kinda asking to be twitted and out-shouted.AdamOfTheRedEarth wrote: I've exhausted my own questions and this thread is getting to be less "forum discussion" and more "let's attack the o.p. because we're paranoid or don't like this topic".
Hm. I wonder how they'd feel about a pin with a Soviet town or ship on it...Shambala wrote:I made a batch of very cool pins with the BM logo, police shield and an American flag. They really like getting gifts too!
They are not the enemy, don't mess with them.
I was agreeing with his "high school" comments, thinking in particular about someone's posts, with the additional thought regarding potential motives.Eric wrote:No, he's right.
