Found the tricolor LED strips at a big online retailer for a good price with controller.
Made a nice 2400 mAh battery pack.
Modified my old dewalt charger to pump it up.
Depending on the color I choose it lasts from 2 to 8 hours.
Haven't figured the battery mount yet.

What are the dimensions of the battery?

I started a big batch (gallon and a half) of Limoncello! It'll be ready to bottle next week! I've also been practicing making fruit shrubs (drinking vinegars), and plan to buy a soda stream on payday....... between those things, and some cucumber/lemon/mint water that I will freeze pre-playa, I will be able to keep self and friends nicely hydrated!

Oh, and I registered for the individual ticket sale.....

Congrats on the big batch, ChrissyP (and for getting registered for Wednesday's sale)! I've got a few batches going now, though my process takes a lot longer. I started this group last fall, and it's just about ready to go to the next phase...then it should be ready to bottle in early June.

That's a great light setup, Joel, very cool.

Good call on the LED work light, Sheik. We ended up losing one of our work lights on the playa last year after the temple burn, when some random drunk fuck came stumbling through camp and ran into the light full force (sort of like a moth to a flame). Even without the breakage, the power drain and the heat are both pretty considerable - I'm looking to replace the broken fixture with an LED unit later this spring.

My one item a day is actually more of one MORE item to do....

We found a few oil leaks in our mutant vehicle that only occur while the engine is running. After (briefly) debating on exactly HOW bad these leaks really are, and heck, there will be thousands of vehicles out there that will be leaking, and maybe, just maybe the playa dust will seal up the leaks for us....we decided we are just fooling ourselves.

We pulled the engine yesterday and I will be replacing the main oil seal. Mother Nature can't say I didn't do nuthin' for her.

Good on you for doing the right thing & not taking the easy way out.

Bought ticket/vehicle pass (which I say semi-confidently now that the $466 charge has cleared my account after having sat in a "pending" stage for 37 hours)

Submitted my time off request at work

Penciled in my route this year which has me coming IN via 50 with brief detours to Moab and 4 corners and ample shopping time in CO (both directions) previously I've only gone East on the loneliest road.

I'm going to give some thought as to whether I should finally rent some storage and leave my gear in NV for future years.

Four corners itself was a let down to me, area is fabulous. Monument Valley is okay, but find a way to go through Valley of the Gods. make it happen. The dirt roads are well graded, we took a tiny Scion XA over them.

Awesome, I appreciate the head's up. I'm trying to squeeze it all in in one day and I'm going to have to trim, that's a good starting point as it was my furthest point south. I'm just doing the research now. The plan was to stay in Moab for two nights but I can't believe how pricey accommodations are. I may end up camping instead as Green River is too far west to double back and Grand Junction too far east.

Good to know about the Scion, I'm driving a Jetta (well, at least when it's not snowing too much).

The stallion bought himself a magnet on wheels for mooping. We bundled wooden stakes. His work is bringing in old stakes from line staking jobs, we are spraying them pink! What else would bdc use?

Joeln, I just picked up 5 metal wine goblets. You gave me a great idea. I have a set of those alphabet stamps for metal or leather. Sweet.

WOW!!! Does this come full of Caipirinha? Is that the limey drink you and your daughter served up at last year's M'n'G? (Yum, I must say...)
Can't wait to see your design!

Just today, I'm getting my design for this year's swag pinned down... it'll be copper again, but..... different! Made a trade with a machinist (dear long-time friend) for the design, my design and copper, his programming and 'cutting' of the design, my finishing... in exchange for some de-soldering/soldering on the motherboard of his CNC mill. (Easy... and Done!) Such a deal!!!
I'll post a pic with the finished product, when it's done. There will be more than I had last year, so I'll be able to give them to people not on the "special persons" list! (last year, I had only 87(?) pendants, and 96 on my list of Special Persons I Must Find at BRC, exactly 87 of whom I did actually find!)

Added bonus, began teaching my 11 year old about the joys and pain of rebuilding an engine...all in 11 degree weather.

Purchased a Norco Parkland trike.. now to modify the back basket into a rear facing seat, and add an eclectic motor. I'll be burning in style this year.

Good luck on the trike conversion!
We converted a trike for our 4th burn last year and it was like riding in style. Added a rear mounted seat where the basket was, the battery for the electric motor was underneath the seat. Electric kit was mounted to the front wheel. We added basic shade on top and it worked out pretty well. We charged it at the end of each day off of a battery we brought that was hooked to a solar panel. We brought our individual bikes as back up and also for when we didn't have to be stuck at the same place.

Good stuff. And fingers crossed, battle_pixie, hopefully we won't see that at any point this year (we haven't had one during the event in a while).

After playing around with the LED light bulbs we'd gotten from Home Despot for the last couple weeks, I think we're going to replace the CFL bulbs that we've been using in camp (a few white ones for the kitchen, and a few colored ones for atmospheric lighting in our private space). Aside from using less juice (which will pay off in the future when our camp eventually upgrades to solar), they're a lot more durable. There's another LED bulb I want to pick up in the next few days for testing, then it's just a matter of figuring out how many of which we'll need for camp.

Ok so I just learned theres a name for what I experienced in 99 just coming off the pavement, first two days of my first year. Condition alpha is a bitch, but I can be exciting, an adventure. I prepare for it (mostly) only cause it was my first exposure and I'll never forget it. Now there's more shit I gotta bring. Thanks for the heads up!
