To illustrate: why you don't shower/play in the road watering truck spray
To illustrate: why you don't shower/play in the road watering truck spray
To illustrate to Virgins why you don't want to follow the road-watering trucks and shower or play in the water they're spraying on the BRC roads.
. .
You don't want to get sprayed with what's in the water (bacteria).
Nor do you want to walk in the now wet playa soil - barefoot, sandels or spashing up - which contains now wet bacteria, waterfowl droppings, various parts of micro-fauna, etc..

People doing that always reminded me of the ones with sunglasses on sitting on bleachers watching nuclear tests in the ‘50s.

It is true the "roads" are watered with non-potable water. But it is also true that playa dust is not sterile. Playa dust is about 25% organic material. The portos and food prep are not sterile.
I wouldn't set the expectation that not playing with the water truck is going to ensure a germ-free playa existence.

Hahaha!
Folks be running behind them trucks for 20 or so years.
The fact that we haven’t had some sort of epidemic blow up in BRC over that span pretty much points to this being a whatever moment.
Why you fucking with Darwinism?
Or did you just need to find a good caption for a rhino pissing?

And a number of them end up reporting "Playa Lung" and/or eye infections, Virgins blissfully unaware of what they were showering/playing in.
Nope. Photo instantly reminded me of the BRC dust suppression road watering trucks.
Over time, people forget the details.
I did the bump, you did the set, here's what I think is the spike... or at least leads to it.
And the above is at the smaller BRC size.Canoe wrote: ↑Mon Sep 15, 2014 4:23 pmThere's a reason you're not supposed to run behind them and get sprayed by that water. It's not potable water in them.Canoe wrote:those that have an issue with dust in general or with specific components of the dust blowing on the playa, be it the fine clay or other soil components (SiO2, Al2O3, quartz, micas, calcite, feldspar, vermiculite, illite, and kaolinite), aquatic micro-fauna eggs or dead body parts, bacteria normally on the playa, bacteria deposited by migratory birds, bacteria blown in off of surrounding land or the bacteria in the water that the water trucks spray on the dusty BRC roads.

Total Coliform 1,732.9 mg / 100 mL
Escherichia Coli (e. Coli) 11.0 mg / 100 mL
Fluoride 8.4 mg/L
So when you're running naked behind those water trucks, keep your mouth (and other orifices) closed!lemur wrote:5,507.9 pounds of E. Coli bacteria spread on to the playa each year at burning man

That’s a lot of fluoride ...

Running behind the water truck is hardly even a thing anymore, it's nearly extinct, kinda like shirtcockers...
Haven't seen a shirtcocker or a pants gun in years.

Sooner or later, it will get real strange...

Sunburn...
Saw one going along with a huge grin on his face, red almost like lobster. Knew he was going to be spending some days trying to lay still while shedding many tears. I'm thinking that's something someone would only do once, and everyone seeing that would never ever consider it.
Never had time to go watch them manning the guns to protect the ville.
