Hey all, what do you like to moisturize with? I hear lotions are a pain cause you can get all sticky and toss dust on top.
Is it true that Grapeseed oil is a really good alternative to lotion moisturizers? I hear it won't leave you feeling sticky.
Thanks Loves

PS I got paid today so I'll buy some and try it out for you

Re: Moisturizer
Tons have stuff have been tried at Burning Man and some are Playa Proven.
Unfortunately, the eplaya search sucks, but do use google to search eplaya.burningman.org for people's experiences with, well, just about everything at Burning Man.
You'll find the Best Practices and disasters people have had, as well as the go-to products/substances. Like moisturizer. You're not the first to be seeking all sorts of answers.
Do read the Survival Guide.

That's one word I regret googling during breakfast.
.
Video games are giving kids unrealistic expectations on how many swords they can carry.
.
, but don't harm the red dragon that frequents the area from time to time. He and I have an agreement.

Sunscreen. You're going to need it anyway.
Everyone is so politically fucked up that they're segregating themselves in the name of equal rights and liberation.

Re: Moisturizer
Each person is an individual. I have generally oily skin and hair and have been sheltering under NW clouds for some time. YMMV.
I generally clean my body and hair in the late afternoon, then head out for a night on the town, sometimes coming home dusty. I try to keep the dust down in the tent. I'll rinse my face, hands and feet, then put on regular old moisturizer on hands, face and generously on feet. Then I put the feet in clean cotton socks. If you have super dry hands, you could put them in cotton gloves for the night. I bring 2 pairs of cotton socks for each day.
I have sometimes worn sandals without socks in the daytime, but usually my feet are in socks away from the dust. I've never done the dilute vinegar wash, though some people swear by it. With my routine, I've never had the dreaded playa foot where the dry skin cracks and the alkali dust burns like hell.
The dust is very hard on hair for most people. You can search ePlaya for hair. Colorful wigs are popular.

In the meantime I like:
Daytime . . .
In the morning, I clean up with lemon/soapy water spray bottles/et al. (Wipes are great too, but soak them. Don't buy the box, which will dry out . . . instead, the set of 3 snap-shut Huggies fragrance-free packs (or any other brand that has a fragrance free triple capsule set, and spritz them. Never rake a semi-dry wipe across your skin. It will burn like HECK 30 seconds later. You'll seriously regret it.)
Then:
* Eucerin Facial Sunscreen SPF 30 (face and chest)
* Aveeno Spray Sunscreen SPF 30 (everywhere else)
I often carry the spray in the day bag to re-apply.
On the Go
On the go, I moisturize my hands as often as I want--but nothing BUT my hands. I let dust land if necessary, and do not wipe it. Let it sit.
* Navy blue travel-size tin of Nivea Creme (the diameter of a silver dollar and several times as thick). Buy several and carry 1 in the day bag, and 1 in the night bag, and 1 or 2 to give away if you meet someone who needs one.
(Don't panic if you can't find it in stores, there are many good options, but the efficient size and moisture levels are ideal.)
Night . . . At night, I clean again, and then moisturize hands, feet, and face again.
* Eucerin CoEnzyme Q10 creme (especially for under-eye, neck, chin, and facial windburn)
* Dr. Palmer's Cocoa Butter lotion and balm-in-a-jar for the body
Don't forget a bottle of saline for eyes and nose (don't let it touch either place; hold it above and drip it in).
And a multipack of SPF lip balm.
. . . And cornstarch powder, in case you're TOO moisturized.
There are many, many options, but these are my favorites (and they do not pay me).
I've honestly never tried grapeseed oil out there in my life . . . but if someone experienced swears by it, there's no reason not to add a little to your arsenal.
