Bringing a wind instrument

Hey all! This will be my first burn, and I really want to bring my saxophone but could use some advice on how wind instruments hold up out there. I play alto sax but bought a really cheap soprano sax thinking 1) It'll be easier to transport b/c it's smaller and 2) I won't care as much about it getting destroyed b/c it's so cheap. It's honestly a pretty shitty, and I can't get a lot of the notes out, but I can at least play the middle register fairly easily. Basically my options are to take the soprano which I'm definitely not as comfortable on or bring my alto which I definitely don't want to destroy b/c it's a more expensive instrument and I play it in several bands at home.

Any advice?
