BM Hacks

Figjam's Playa Practical thread has not been active for a while, so I thought I'd start a new thread on BM hacks. I'll kick it off with a few of my own:

Hexayurt Hacks:
Use a sharpened putty knife to cut the foam boards - much faster, cleaner, and safer (
Use a titanium no-stick scissors to cut the filament tape to avoid getting it gummed up
Use squeegie on a handle to rub down filament tape at the top of the roof
Use a tarp frame instead of taping the tarp to the yurt - it's faster, and more waterproof (
Use a white tarp inside, it's much brighter and makes the yurt seem bigger


Swamp Cooler Hacks:
Use a 7.5 gal instead of 5 gal bucket if you don't want to refill the bucket all the time
Remember to open the vent (not a hack but people forget all the time)

Kitchen Hacks
Use spray bottles (soap in one, water in another) to wash dishes
If you don't want to wash dishes, use a plate covered with aluminum foil for each meal
Use a 5 gal Igloo for drinking water - fill it with ice from center camp, and have ice cold water and ready to use ice

In and Out Hack
Use twitter for traffic info on the way in

ID Hack
Bring an expired drivers license to carry around instead of current one
