The first time I went to BM I was warned that it was a really "slippery" place to be going. All the craziness/booze/drugs. I felt pretty much alone the first couple of years.
It wasn't till I'd been going for 3 years that there were organized 12 Step meetings. I managed to stay sober (22 years now!)
I found it very rewarding when people started celebrating "birthdays" out at BM
