Pierings on the Playa

Post by sightfuleyes » Fri Jun 20, 2008 4:34 pm

How are multiple piercings effected by the playa dust? Specifilcy genital ones. If going nude how much can the dust play a problem with something like that? Any one delt with this personaly?

I'm not piered myself, but going by the numbers I see out on the playa, including genital ones, there seems to be no effect.

if it's a fully healed one, you should be fine- just use common sense about keeping it clean, etc.

If it's a fresh piercing: under no circumstances do you want playa dust to get into it. The alkaline dust of the playa is a desiccant, and it will dry out a fresh piercing (or tattoo) and can cause extremely painful cracking and splitting of the skin. It's bad enough on your feet, I wouldn't even want to imagine it on the genitals.

For a fresh one- keep it covered at all times. You might want to put something like Vaseline on it before putting a band aid over that. Not sure if vaseline is the best, but something along those lines. Look around eplaya for instructions for keeping your feet happy, those should be adaptable to your needs.

I have seen many people with long healed work have no problem but I agree with the above if its fresh cover it. If you have just recetly streatched it cover it as well. The playa dust is going to be killer on any open wound.

they were handing out slabs of pie at the SF Precompression on Friday.
Handed out by gals in little Betty Crocker-like aprons, pie servers, the whole bit. Eating pie, watching Gooferman. this has nothing to do with pie rings.

This guy had a ring, but I don't think it was on his pie.
