Virgin needs help!!!
I am a burningman virgin. Though i wont be able to go till 2011 me, my girlfriend 4 other friends started saving up money. I wish i could go sooner but unfortunatly i go to a military college that starts the same time that burning man does and would not let me out for it.
First of all....
How much money does a week long stay cost per person. I know its impossible to give an exact amount since ticket prices may be different in the future but an estimate would be appreciated.
Secondly...
What are some things you can do to enhance your experience at burning man.... im pretty much up for anything, i have low inhibitions so please any suggestions will be taken into consideration. Also if you have any opinions on which drugs enhance the experience more let me know or if its best left to sober minds.
Lastly..
Is renting a winnebago a good idea? and how much does that run you?

Greetings to eplaya Watcher.
Cost for the week is dependant on many factors. Right now tix range in the 200's. This past burn my tix cost 225$ each.
Food is also a big variable. You gonna eat ramen noodles all week or are you planning on lobster and cavier? Plan your menu for the week for your group and then you'll get an "idea" of your food budget.
How do you plan to get to the burn and from what part of the country? Since I'm not a mindreader I couldnt begin to guess that amount.
Yes you can rent an rv, lots of people do for the burn, especially many that come from abroad. Plan on renting way early, swearing a blood oath to the company that your not going to the burn, and then cleaning the piss out of it afterwards, otherwise you may pay out the wazoo for post-burn cleaning, and/or lose your deposit.
Other intangibles as far as cost include booze, costumes you ain't planning to be no freaking spectator are you?) and, apparently, your drugs.
Seeing that your in military college, and our countries future rests upon said drug addled minds, may I suggest sticking with acid. It doesnt stay in your system near as long as something much more sublime such as marijuana. That way when you return to school and/or your illustrious military career, your less likely to score a positive piss test. And as an added bonus, one day you may get that second freebie trip they always warn you about in Dare classes.
Welcome to the dust

2 people climbed on your shoulders and went in through the window before you could open your mouth.
WWTW...READ the survial guide on front page...copy it. Turn it into a check list, read it twice a day for the next 2 yrs!
That will give you an idea of how much this trip will cost ya!
There's lists!

For food plannin on raiding the local sams club and stocking up on the cheapest and largest quantities of food possible. so munchies and foods that can be made quickly.
As for the winnebago, solid advice. Id be leaving from Georgia, so already gas is going to be an arm leg and small child. but do they charge by mileage or what?
As for the costumes, fuck yes I am going to have one.
and for drugs.... just want to know what experienced burners as yourself allow you to make the most of the festival. Hooray for those freebies! haha
Unfortunantly, I will most likely only be able to do this once so i would like to do it right. SO, if you could treat the advice as if you could only do it once and what you would do.If im going to so this then im going to do it right.
btw my illustrious military career is a no go. studying to become a shrink

It would be awesome if there was a way to put stuff like RVs and art cars onto flatbed rail cars and have them sent ahead. I suspect that it would cost as much as the gas though, not to mention requiring more advance preparation.WhoWatchesTheWatchmen? wrote:... gas is going to be an arm leg and small child. but do they charge by mileage or what?

I don't know if it is cost effective unless you are trying to avoid mileage or certain roads, as in going to Copper Canyon.
