OK Next Stupid Question: sponge baths?

Post by Totoro » Wed Aug 26, 2009 1:58 pm

I've done a ton of reading about showers and was freaking out a little about having to build one, etc.

But one guy on another long-ass thread about showers advocated the frequent sponge bath -- just stand on a tarp, use a few cups of water to get wet, lather up, then a few more cups to rinse off. This might work perfectly for me, since I shave my head and washing my hair isn't a problem. (Except for my ass and back hair.) The minimal water is environmentally satisfying and stays on the tarp to evaporate quickly.

Anyone use this method with success? Or do I need to start on my blueprints and engineering degree for my home-built shower now?

Thank you burners for all your advice!!!

For now I wouldn't build anything.
Sponge bath could work.
Baby wipes could work (don't even need a tarp)
Garden sprayer on towels works the best. Hang towels to dry...

while i didn't really need to know about your arse hair, we are using a similar lazy-man's method. Just exchange the "cup" for a garden sprayer and you can cover a lot more surface area with less water.

just make sure it didn't once contain anything nasty, unless you are trying to double duty and get rid of scabbies or lice. LOL.
