What? Nobody is doing anything to prepare today? Well, I purchased a set of 4 ratchet straps to hold our shade structure down to the rebar. I still have to figure out an easy way to bend the rebar tops into handles. I also got a short sledge hammer and a long crowbar all for same.

Ok, I just ordered my sheepskin seat cover for my cruiser, you know, just in case I need a comfy place for a somewhat bare bottom...

I got a reduced price due to damage on stainless steel work bench. Damage was a few dents and scratches, but it was returned, and straightened up, and put back together, then I disassembled it to get it in my little car.
Image just like this only stainless. pretty thin metal, but for 75 dollars, not bad.
Is this for burning man? not directly, but indirectly, oh yes.

I found energy shots at the dollar store. And my red bling-y bra top came today! And some extra contact lenses. I ordered a jump starter/air compressor, too. :D

I considered that, but read some people had better experiences with loose fabrics like sheepskin for keeping dust at bay. Plus I got a smoking deal of <$5 including shipping--and I didn't have to make it! (Referencing my room full of fabrics and mostly unstarted projects...grrr.)

EmilyD, rebar bent cold may/will continue to candy cane until it break, according to threads I've read on eplaya. Best suggested way to put you bend in it is to heat until red hot, then bend in a vise.

Real easy, I know, if you have the right tools and a torch. Better way is to look up a welding shop and for a couple bucks they can heat and bend it to the shape you want or need.

I found 24" form rods that are pointed and solid steel at lowes. They're drilled with holes every couple inches.

My next project is a misting system.

M2N2 BM_Cricket gave me some tips on bending cold rebar. I'm not looking to candycane them...only want to do an upsidedown "L" at the top. I also found some instructions about doing it inside two pieces of steel pipe (not sure If I saw that here or on Tribe). My notes are getting long and messy at this point. I'll probably clean my list up in the next week or so.

No, I got those from Vision Direct. But I guess Costco carries them, so we need to check there, too!

Do you think this strategy could use the reverse guy'ing like I was mentioning?

So keeping the guy lines flush with the structure as opposed to flaring out from it?

The lines would guy from one corner to the opposing base (something I am not able to show with my hi-tech grafix here). So the guy'ing would pull inward into a cube instead of outwards
(Quote cut down to smaller size)
It might work, to guy it like that. But to me the guy lines are kinda used to help pull the tension out and down.
Personally I feel there is enough room in BRC for you to guy your car port a tried and trusted way. Get some tennis balls and cap your rebar, its pretty easy.
I don't know much about "reverse guy'ing" (except for some weird things I've seen on the internet, that I wish I never saw, and I don't talk about) it might work it might not. Go with something that you know will work. Or try setting it all up at home and see how it goes.
Why don't ya stick your head in that hole and find out? ~piehole
