not something that I did per se but my dad just bought a used 06 toyota tundra so it looks like i'll have a better rig to ride out in this year instead of towing a open trailer with my car :D i think i'll get slightly better mpg without the trailer and I can use regular gas instead of the premium that my car guzzles

used them this weekend while camping and some colors work better than others but overall a very neat concept.
Awesome! Feel free to send any pics or a write-up, I'll have you as a guest writer!

I drank too much last night at Game of Thrones, that's getting ready for BM, right? :twisted:

Started assembling music for Raiders Night, decided to try and make some Korean moonshine to go with the Korean pickles I'm bringing. Sewed some more on Mr/s. Retrofrolic's ensembles. Going on a 4-day burner spree in Asheville this weekend and can't WAIT. Hope to maybe get a ride worked out.
Sweet a writing gig!! I'm honored.

I wish I had read this prior to our camping trip this weekend. So many good picture opportunities missed. But alas, it is always dark somewhere!

How do you like that bialleti? We've been looking for one of those for camping and the playa and just wanted to get your opinion on it since our Target sells them at a decent price.

I really like it. The 6 "cup" model is what I would call a good sized mug of strong coffee. Cleanup is simple: you get a fairly dense puck of coffee that knocks out of the filter pretty easily. For camp coffee, this is my favorite of all I've tried: filter drip; french press; and re-usable drip filter in a pan of hot water. I like strong coffee, but if you like the more american drip sort of strength, you can dilute with hot water. They make 9, 12, 18 cup versions too. Stainless steel and aluminum.

What day are you arriving?
My sister needs to get a rental car in Reno, but as much as I tell her she needs to book it now, she keeps procrastinating.

Made contact and got preliminary confirmation for my rider. Now just have to figure out exactly how we're gonna fit everything in my Beetle.

Was thinking of traveling light this year anyway.

Roof bag?
It's a soft rooftop luggage bag that I can put duffles, tents folding chairs etc in. I use to use it with my wagon, then my van, but since the Burning Van is out of commission, it's gonna be the Beetle this year.

I'm planning on traveling light anyway.

I bought three varieties of preserved food to test.

* Napoleon Brisling Sardines in garlic sauce
* Underwood Devilled Ham spread
* Hormel Lean Smoked Ham

I have no idea if I like sardines (other fish? usually yes, but I would like something else to break up the vacuum-sealed salmon parade) and am curious as to there is a such thing as an amusing junk food ham.

I already like the Underwood Devilled Chicken in its disgusting, homogenous salty goodness. I eat it only on the playa, on whole grain bread, cut into little triangular sandwiches, like it's Tea Time for Satan.

Awaiting a report back. There are some things I only eat on the playa. Sardines fall in that category. But a couple of years ago I replaced sardines with smoked salmon in pouches that I get from grocery outlet. Doh...I think I need to add something to my list.

I'm waiting for a report, too!

I love hearing that other people do the food test thing. My family makes so much fun of me for doing Burning Man food tests all year.

I buy stuff and test it. And I make stuff, freeze it (either cooked or raw depending) for a week then defrost it and test it. I get SO mocked!

Do it do it! I have been forced to do my food testing at work, because, these teenage boys around here tend to inhale everything. :roll: Now the nurse in the next cubicle wants to know if I'm preparing for the zombie apocalypse...

re: sardines. I like the chili tomato ones in a small can. The "sauce" is tasty to lap up, (vs. more plain type oil) so not much wet trash. a canned good I can swish/rinse a bit, and consume the rinsings, or pour into the soup pot.

I can't do sardines but canned chicken with salsa on tortilla chips with baked beans. Sounds like a nightmare, but takes great. Don't ask why.

YAY! by the power of selling awesome embroidered patches that I make -on my Etsy - I'am now only about $260 short of 2 tix. This has really gotten me jazzed because My husband and I are getting hosed with our tax refund - the IRS has decided they wanna take their time and look at our return. SO I've been busting butt!

It's these little excitements that make me all giddy!!
