Browsed LED strips on ebay, and now contemplating on buying a 1 meter strip to outline the fur colour on my coat, but I'm hmmin and hawing over cool white vs. warm white. Such a tough decision

Sunny and 94 degrees with fairly low humidity - about as close to playa conditions as it gets here. Walked to work and trying to spend as much time outdoors as possible to start acclimating, but sadly it will be starting to cool down by the time I'm off work.
I leave for the playa in 63 days so now making stuff is in crunch time.

Got my glowy-pretties (as someone in the Toronto burners' FB group has called them) in the mail today. Fibre-optic, (replaceable-)battery-powered, hair clips.

Hairclip-schmairclip; I'm going to use at least some of them to decorate hats.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
I had an overflowing mailbox full of packages from overseas containing a bunch of new el-wire, and battery op. rainbow led string lights.
Those rainbow led's are a lot brighter, and blinkier then what I was expecting, so I think I may have to order some more tonight.
Also, stocked up on the vitalyte, and did a little costco shopping for fluids.
And, picked up the ugliest most "atrocious" (as my daughter called it) rust colored fuzzy jacket. Maybe I'll attach some of the LED's to it just to up the gaudiness of it.

Today, bought 5 blinky clip-on LED lights (the kind you'd use when biking at nite) at Dollar store.
$5=5 lights that can be moved around from my play coat to my bike to whatever is needed

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Hmmm RGB... I did see a multicolour one complete with a remote to change the colours. It's nice that my coat's fur colour is a light grey so anything would show up nice. I'll price them out then decide if I'm willing to spend it. I noticed there are ones with a sticky backing, which is definitely easier to attach before sewing it to be playa proof.lazerfox wrote:wow...now to research how easily they can be converted to battery power.DustHand wrote:Do RGB, then you can change based on your mood!Fufa wrote:Browsed LED strips on ebay, and now contemplating on buying a 1 meter strip to outline the fur colour on my coat, but I'm hmmin and hawing over cool white vs. warm white. tg--the learning curve on fimo might be that second is very ambitious. Also, if you have any sort of reaction to it (my hands get itchy), I'm not sure putting it in your ears is okay. Even further, super sculpy is the strongest polymer clay (at least at the time I last seriously worked with the stuff). Might react better to the stress; they also make an elasticy one--after my time, so I'm not sure what it's like.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Just purchased 2 RGB 5050 LED strips off of ebay, each 1 metre in length and 60 LEDs/m. They each came with a controller for 16 colours, 5 solid/flash modes, and several settings for brightness and flash speed. Hopefully it turns out as nicely as it appears. Now to wait for them to come cross the ocean to my mailbox.
