South Lake Tahoe
Jaycatski,
I'm not a die-hard burner (yet), just a incoming virgin. Afterwards I'm heading out to South Lake Tahoe for a couple of days to scrape the Playa off myself and fully re-hydrate.

If it were me, and I had a week to get back to Vegas (and I had a car) this is what I might do.
After the event drive to Reno, stop and check into an inexpensive hotel, shower, get cleaned up, organize your gear etc. .
Next I would go to a hot springs (something about being out in the desert for a week makes me want to get wet again), there are a few very nice ones just north of S.F. (notably Wilbur and Harbin). Depending on your finances and enthusiasm for continued camping vs. other accomidations you can find a hot springs that suits your needs by checking out these sites:

http://www.spinics.net/hotsprings/
http://www.wilburhotsprings.com/
http://www.harbin.org/
If you have never been to a Redwood forest I also highly reccomend that you visit one while you are here

After a day or two in the redwoods/hotsprings I would begin driving south along the coast. San Francisco, Big Sur, Santa Cruz, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara are all great places to stop and visit and there are hot springs scattered through out the northern coast region that are worth looking into as well.
If you've never been to L.A. before you might want to stop there as well. It's not for everyone but it helps if you have an experienced guide. This is the time to call those friends that live in L.A. that you met on the playa.
Finally hang a left and drive to Vegas (about 4 hours from L.A.)
If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me. Hope this helps!

My vote is for Sycamore Mineral Springs, a couple miles south of SLO.Chai Guy wrote:San Francisco, Big Sur, Santa Cruz, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara are all great places to stop and visit and there are hot springs scattered through out the northern coast region that are worth looking into as well.

And while you're there, if you're a carnivore, get one of the locals to give you directions to Sylvester's in Los Osos. So help me, their burgers are damn near worth driving the three hours each way from San Jose....

Anything purple is mine. Anything else can be dyed or painted.
I'm going to second that reccomendation for Sycamore Springs. If you can plan ahead you might be able to pick up an excellent deal on a room (provided you arrive on a sunday through Thursday), if you don't want to splurge on a room (all of which have a private mineral tub with jets) you can rent a tub by the hour, and just camp Be sure to ask for a tour of the tubs to get the best one before you actually rent it. There is plenty of camping near by (not walking distance, but driving distance).
