Put the ice cream stuffs into a large ziplock bag. Seal.

Put the large bag into another bag full of ice and salt. Seal.

Wrap the double bagged goodness in newspaper so that it resembles a ball.

Throw this ball around with yer friends for a while. Eventually you get ice cream!
Another alternative:

Get two different sized coffee cans, put the ice cream goodies into the smaller, the ice and salt into the larger, then roll it around. Voila, a homemade icecream ball. We used to do this as kids, called it "coffee can ice cream."

I'm liking the spanking idea more and more, but I'm a little worried about not being able to sit down the next day (I mean, there's a big difference between getting spanked on Tuesday and Saturday, you know?).

I don't think a sheet cake will make it all week, and theres no way I'm going to be responsible enough to keep it on ice. I'm really not bringing anything that needs to be refrigerated, and so that's just an unbelievable extra PITA.

Anyone else think of a way to use my birthday to engage more with the community at large?

I think you need to be spanked with a sheet cake.

Two birds with one stone and all that shit...
