Playa Conditions
So what are they like this year, good for bikes?
I may be crazy but at least I'm not sane.

I was on the playa last Wednesday. Some areas of Black Rock City looked pretty good and others were nasty. The area around the golden spike - where the man will be erected- is bad, bumpy, lumpy and soft. Much of the city is in good shape, hard and smooth. So, this year the playa will be good, or bad, just depends on where you are.

If they know where next year's BM is going to be, I wonder why they don't roll it out in the fall after the current year's event but before the winter rain comes. Pack it down good and hard and level. Sure, the frost is going to heave the surface up and it will be what it will be, but I would think it might get the worst of the ruts out of it. Then just let the natural precipitation (or lack thereof) work their usual magic on the surface.

well, it seems for real.
and, wouldn't it be cool if it is where a "breakthrough" occured?
interesting, if nothing else.
He said, they'd have few "power outlets" of some sort on the playa.
I'd have to go back to read the details, though.
I think,Eric,, the mechanism is completely, or almost so, underground. not sure, other than the power stations, what we can see.
Maybe, they'll have drawings or something. I know, they're keeping it pretty secret as far as the actual mechanism/process goes.
I just wanna see this "mentor" he's got.......she sounds HOT!!!

Thinking it will just help to compact things even more. Outlook from here on out looks dry as anything according to Accuweather..
