I just don't get it...

Do I need to set up with a tribe? Or can I just camp next to my car and roam around? Do I need a section of my own?

..ahh...so confused.

Yes, you can just set up next to your car and wander around on your own. When you arrive, the Gate people will check your ticket. They'll wave you on to the Greeters. The Greeters will have a map of Black Rock City. Part of it will be shaded. The other will be open camping. You can go anywhere in open camping that's not already occupied and set up your campsite.
