Do I bring my own map & calendar?
When we arrive, will we be given a map and calendar or do I print one out to bring? Do we get one for each person? Is there anything else not obvious that I should bring? I'm not talking my general packing and survival list, I mean things like maps and other, uh, things I don't know about.
What is that scale of the map on the website? I didn't see that on it but I could be blind. What is the distance in blocks or meters or feet or whathaveyou between the planets roads and the time roads?
Thanks!

You will be given a little packette of goodies upon your arrival, including a map, playa calendar, theme camp listing, general information, and a nice little sticker or two.
I would suggest bringing the map/events calendar with you when you go out and about. Always remember to bring water with you, and a cup (preferably with a lid) for when you wander into a friendly place offering libations.
REMEMBER YOUR TICKET.

Thanks- I'm all over the camelback/mug thing in my life already, so that goes without saying.
Do we get one packet per person?
Today as we were planning our route- we've added a couple days to take the Oregon coast highway to what was already a 2 day drive- I was wondering how far back we'd go to get our tickets if we forgot them! We won't be forgetting them!

Everyone gets a packet. One caveat - the maps they hand out are BIG. Many folds are required to get them down to pocket size, and even then they aren't that comfortable to carry around. The guide will have the BMORG's idea of highlights, which may not mesh with your own.
If you think you'll have trouble finding your way around, you could put together a small map of your own with a cheat sheet of people and camps you want to visit. Honestly, though, the streets aren't that hard to figure out. All of the spoke streets point to the man and are sequentially numbered. There are only so many round streets so if you aren't sure where the one you're looking for is, just pick a direction and start walking. You'll run into it eventually. The hard part is looking for specific camps at a certain address. They can be packed in pretty tightly and it changes from day to day as things go up and down. If you're looking for a specific person, he or she won't be there when you visit. If you leave a note for them, they will attempt to visit you when you're away.

I'm one of those sorts that loses or folds or tears or spills on both the map and the What/Where/When. It's one per person, and I think they ran out last year (unconfirmed.) What I can say is that we ended up posting one at Med Station 3 because so many people were coming by and asking map-type questions.

I get those big plastic see-through envelopes, the ones that tie shut with a string and come in pretty colors. I hand out one to each individual in our camp. This keeps their packet together, and is a great place to stash all the stickers and newspapers you acquire through the event. Everyone gets a different color, and you can write on them with sharpies. A second envelope goes on the bike for things acquired when we're out and about. These are available at any office supply store in multi-packs.
Once you get home, all your paper memorabilia is in one spot for easy sorting, sharing or storage.

For the past 2 years Playa Info has had small index card sized maps of the city showing the ring roads and cross streets. I ended up picking up several and have them on the wall in front of me...Swing by there and see if they have them this year as I expect they will.
The big map you get at the gate is best used in camp and kept as a collectible for when you get back to Camp Reality.
As for the calendar question you get a "Calendar" or guide with the major events listed in it when you come through the gate. And I bet Playa Info will have copies of that too. (Speaking of the gate I'm working my gate shift from 8 to Midnight on Wednesday night this year! Wheee!!!!)
One note about Playa Info. They close at night and people like to sit in there and give out misinformation that can really fuck with your mind. Daytime is fine though.
