What's the zip code?

Post by Icepack » Wed Aug 25, 2004 11:48 am

Does Black Rock City have it's own zip code or is it shared with a nearby town?
Does it get the same zip code every year?
What IS the zip code for BRC?

Thanks!

As far as I know just from the playa to the default world and also interplaya (this of course will not require postage but bring a gift for the postal workers or be prepared to do a chicken dance) - brought to you by the lovely folks over at BRCPO and Spatial Delivery.

My niece received mail from her family in Utah on the playa last year. Real letters, not packages.

Addressed to:

her real and playa names,
our theme camp name,
Street coordinates (Dogma and 5:00)
C/O Postmaster, Black Rock City, Gerlach NV 89412.

It helped that we were in a placed theme camp with signs and a directory. We also had a real mailbox with our names on it.
She mailed out letters to her family several times.

Hope this helps.

Yes, that helps a lot! I just sent a postcard and I'll cross my fingers. Thanks!

mail can be delivered to the playa but there's no guarantee it will get delivered. Camp co-ordinates help, camp descriptions, playa names... pretty much anything that can help delivery people 'find' the intended person.

Any mail sent should be sent with the hope it gets delivered to the right person but the expectation that it will get delivered to someone else... Either way, it'll make someone's day.

I sent it to the "box office/will call". I have 6 people from my camp working the box office so I figured one of them will recognize the names. I can't wait to find out if they got it.

those folks are awesome! We gave them a bottle of booze last year and mailed out all of our wedding thank you notes from the playa. Unfortunately not many of our guests noticed the unique postage mark, but we sent one to ourselves with some playa dust in it as a souvenir. All of our notes arrived back home and to our guests before we got home from Burning Man.
