Re: One Item for BM a Day
Got our first BM item this weekend!
Brand new tent.

It's a little bigger than what I was originally thinking, but we are going to get some cots, as has been suggested. I think they'll fit well with room to spare.
We actually went and looked at it in store, was just about to buy it right there but then got a wild hair and checked online first and found it for $60 less!

Your going to hate that mesh. Best sew it up ASAP. It's totally impraticle for any use out there (the screened in room). Everything and I mean everything will be covered in dust. But you want to try to block as much out as you can.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
That mesh is only part of the screen room, the tent itself has very little mesh that needs covered, which I plan on taken care of when I do he seam sealing and all that. Was thinking of doing some fleece blankets over the screenroom mesh though, kind make it a buffer area between the outside world and the tent. Like you said, to hopefully keep dust to a minimum. I'm not expecting to be dust free at all.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Meh, no real need to seal seams. Dust will get in one way or another.just that mess I would seal up. I did it to mine last year with tent fabric and a sewing machine. Worked well. Having that buffer in your tent will be nice. But needs to be sewn up.
What are you guys using for shade?

Also consider wind performance. That rain fly looks like it wants to scoop some air
. Hopefully you'll have a wind break or a monkey hut over it.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
We seam-seal all our tents. I plan on having this out a few times before August to make sure it'll work for us, so I want to have it ready for rain (and maybe snow if we can make it out camping as early as this May). It will be plenty wind-tested, out here we get +50mph wind gusts pretty regularly. I'll be able to see how it'll hold up and see where I need to make any adjustments
I plan on making a monkeyhut as well. I'm not sure on the size yet, was waiting until I got the tent so I can design it around that. I plan on having our truck parked near one end of the monkeyhut to act as a wind break.

We looked at that tent as well, last year. But, then procrastinated too long, and when August rolled around, couldn't find one and didn't have time to ship. Our fault.
I like the idea of the screen room because it gives a semi-private/protected/less-dusty place to take off your shoes and pants before entering the tent. And you can leave your shoes out side of your tent and feel more comfortable about it. Shoes and pants seem to track the most amount of dust into the tent.
If you plan to use the tent for camping besides BMan, as you've stated, I'd suggest going with the fleece (or even thrift store sheets) and Spring clips. Spring clip sheets over the mesh of the tent, then put the rainfly on. Works great for us.

Yep, springclamps are perfect and do not alter the tent.
Re: One Item for BM a Day
A Burner should have a bag o' spring clamps just based on principle.

And since I'm responsible for this thread drift...I'll bring it back on topic. Today I started making the light panels that will cover my LED light dress.

Curious to see your panels! What are you using? Did you design your own PCBs? Gluing strips onto something?
