Thanks for your input, everyone. It's been really helpful. Especially because I now know that smelling like fish sauce or soy sauce may be preferable, that adding some salad dressing, ketchup, onions, and relish to the vinegar is a good mixture to spread on my buns, and that Erik Estrada will be on the playa. :D

No, Eric Estrada is busy peddling worthless real estate to clueless senior citizens on television. But his ex-wife may show up -- at least in the form of Simon's fictionalized version thereof.

Don't worry, you will catch on. We have all kinds of running gags going on. And thread drift is our national sport.

I put a few drops of white vinger in a one-ounce spray bottle, fill up with water and carry it everywhere all the time, not just in BRC. It's a good general disinfectant, first-aid substitute for soap&water and very handy for freshening up after surreptitious outdoor nooky.

You can clean a nasty toilet seat with it, too, and stop fucking hovering. :?

No, vinegar does not go bad. In fact, it's used to preserve food. I won't mention pickles, because Eric and Dick and possibly Lemur will tell me that only brine pickles are good. Or to come at it from another direction, vinegar is the end product of alcohol going bad. Well, wine and beer. I've never heard of whisky vinegar.

In case it was missed:
Label the spray bottle as VINEGAR.
Don't want anyone grabbing it to cool their face down.
Video games are giving kids unrealistic expectations on how many swords they can carry.

I didn't really think that Estrada was going to be there, silly. But Larry Wilcox will be. He's the founder of Burning Man, right?

You're confusing him with Roger Wilco.

Then why does it have an expiration date on it, huh? :?:

So much fuss over alcalinity equivalent to soapy water.

It ain't the alcalinity that irritates the skin, it's the dehydration. Playa dust is a desiccant.

Most skin ailments on the playa are either pre-existing conditions, mechanical irritation or dehydration.

Fer example:

I get three things going on and off year to year:

1. Waist band rash - mechanical abrasions of playa and utilikilt and several belts carrying tons if junk I just can't live without. The big metal belt buckle also causes skin distress after prolonged contact.

2. Playa foot - Pre-existing condition. I never seem to be able to get rid of the athletes foot 100%. Always comes back at some point. If I don't pay attention and wash feet and moisturize twice a day it can get bad.

3. Ye ol' chub-rub - mechanical irritation. On the odd years when I go orca fat. Not this year since I droped some serious poundage.

Acids of any type did not help one bit. I tried real hard over the dozen years of going and it made no difference.

Nothing beats washing with soap and water then moisturizing with a heavy lotion to seal in the hydration.

Y'all should try Tabasco instead of straight vinegar. Could produce some laughs.

Then socks overtop to keep the dust away from the feet. Looks bad with sandals... but it works.

I find the soap doesn't work well if there's a lot of playa dust (dust interferes with soap?).
Rinsing well first a must, but to avoid using a ton of water, a small squirt of vinegar and a quick rinse with little water is effective.
Or am I just using the wrong soap? Or the wrong dust?

Body wash lathers easiest when you can't use a whole lot of water.
