Picking up where this awesome thread left off, here's a new thread for the new year. Quoting the original poster in the original thread...

Thanks Trilo! I love this thread. Victorian was a brilliant flare across our eplaya sky. I hope she makes it back some day.

Double use the monkey hut.. Frame over a pile of tree limbs and cover with black plastic.. Makes a working wood shed to saw the limbs for he fire place.. Later the black plastic will cover a large (car trailer size) spread load of horse poop and yard moop.. In the early spring monkey hut over the garden.. Cover the frame with clear plastic for a hot house..

Started back on food tracking. Not specifically event related, but if I can drop a bit of weight, I'll be more comfortable in the desert.

So then I had quiche for lunch.

You're very welcome, Elorrum - I love this thread too. Like the project progress threads, I think they do a great job of showing how it all comes together. I know that it's possible for people to pull it all together in a short time and still survive, I think a good prep makes for a great burn.

I don't have much progress to report though, other than I gave one of the double-batches of limoncello a check and stir. Then back on the shelf for another two weeks!

Checking into what felt like a driveline vibration in my truck last time I drove it.
BM forces me to keep that truck in good shape.

I considered starting to think about possibly preparing to start upgrading the poles on my tent to 1/2" EMT. That's as far as I got though...

Yesterday, I waited all day for Jack Rabbit to speak!
Today, I'm trying to figure out what I have, what I have to buy here and what makes more sense to buy when I land (I would imagine packing a camp stove in your carry on gets you strip searched hmmmmmmm)

Picked up another pair of goggles (because if I break or lose something, it will be something I really, really need) and have begun the sorting through of my fabric bins for useful bits-I start sewing tomorrow.

Sometimes I think the TSA's fucks with a person just cause they can. A few years ago we went to FL on vaca with my daughter who at the time was in a stroller and yes she should not have been because she was too big for a stroller but it was a larger "special needs" type stroller so the TSA decided he was going to go putting his face in hers even though I told him she does poorly with her space invaded. Well she hauled off and slapped him. I guess he got the attention he was seeking cause he backed off and let us go. I get that they are there to protect but.......sometimes a little common sense

Realized that it's actually time to start doing shit if I don't want to be running around like a headless chicken come summer.

That counts, right?

Regardless of when you start headless running is inevitable. There's never enough time.

Or maybe that's just me.

A budget.

I did a very careful analysis of my bank records from the last burn. This gives me a clear picture of how much money I spent last burn and on what, and shows me where my unnecessary excesses lie. Using this info, I was able to come up with a more deliberate budget for this year, which in turn tells me how much I need to save to make this thing happen without screwing myself over.

Holy fucking shit! That's what I use and I grumbled at $15 for five pounds (still, it's cheaper than REI) when I bought a can three years ago. $50 is highway robbery.

Making note to stop by the tackstore to see what their prices are this year.

(On clicking on the link again) Aha! 30 pounds. Never mind.
