Reread the survival guide, had anxiety attack that lead to existentialist crisis, almost back out of the entire trip 30 seconds later came back to my senses.
Apparently a person is supposed to drink enough water to piss clear at TTITD so i broke down and bought a 2ltr sand colored water backpack but i think my time would have been better spent working on an orange cloak with blue trim or 4 lbs of beef jerky...
there's always tomorrow.

Avasoul, you can do this. Thousands of people do it every year, many of whom (for shame!) show up without having read the survival guide even once. We have burners on CPAP machines, burners with epilepsy, burners with kids, vegan rawfood burners, deaf burners, burners coming from halfway round the world who don't speak English, rich burners who fly in directly from the Silicone Valley... What unites us is we come together to make it happen. I'm excited that you'll be with us.

Don't worry over which brand of granola bar to choose or which six fuzzy bras you'll bring or whatever. Get your basics covered, come to the desert and see what it's about. If more projects means more stress, just leave the fancy projects for next year. :)

When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
That is a beautiful occupation.

I'll second unjon's advice.

While it's better to be over-hydrated at the burn, pissing all the time sucks, and carrying too much water can be a burden. If your piss is colorless (as far as you can tell while pissing) you're drinking too much water and flushing out your minerals. Instead, make sure your drinks have enough electrolytes and acids in your water and just drink when you're thirsty or doing exercises. Bring some gum too; Gatorade-like drinks are terrible for the teeth.

This next year I resolve to drink less water. Plus, I'll probably not bother with the Camelbak. It's a pain to haul around. Just a bottle in the bike basket instead.

off topic advice from eplaya veteran burners...score.
coming in loud & clear, don't drink to much water that i waste needed nutrients, blow shit up, my path is much easier compared to others, gum is good and radical acceptance awaits.
So close and yet so far away, are we there yet?
Look forward to lighting some lamps for you all. :D

Aye, "Piss Clear" just means "Don't Piss Murky". i.e., your urine should be light yellow in color and not cloudy.

If it looks like ice tea, or you're not going at all = trouble.

I went to the local discount store and got 16 solar lights, a buck a piece. I will get a bag of tube socks later this Summer.

Realized that if I'm really going to build a swamp cooler this year I need to get on it. Every year I say I will but I put it off and put it off and it never ends up happening. SO, I ordered parts for it today, and am setting a date for myself on my next open weekend to build it.

And I received a fun jeweled body chain in the mail :) :)

Ordered everything I can't get at the homeless depot the other day off amazon/HF for the Figjam swamp cooler too. Super excited to put that bad boy together. I will be the king of my camp with that thing lol.

PS I need to order the bi-directional tape for the hexayurt too. Has anyone done this yet? I really don't want to get caught with it being out of stock. Also- HD jacked up the price on the Tuff-R Boards. $20 a pop now. What turds...

This happens to me about once a day. I start freaking out about all the stuff I have to make and prepare before we leave. I have a countdown on my phone's homescreen that shows me how little time until I leave for BRC (hingshight probably not helping but keeps me on track lol). You CAN do this!!! I just try to remember what @BoyScoutGirl says- "Get your basics covered, come to the desert and see what it's about."

Plus- most of the people I know are coming have no idea what is going on. I feel like I am the only one prepping. We'll see what happens come Fry-day.

Better knife for camp kitchen. I got tired of trying to use a regular pocket knife, or camp knife. Too awkward for just chopping veggies, etc. This one has a blade a little lower than the handle, no sharp tip, and a good sheath. On it's way by brown.

Wound yarn, but this time for shawls I'm making to sell for ice money. Keeping all that wine and juice cold is expensive! Also, the stallion's rebar hammer came in the mail. We practiced with it and he is one happy horseman. I wish I'd had the video going when he tried it out. Fantastic grin!

really. it's for Burning Man. Really. Been watching it for over a year, and the fahs day deal was just the thing to tip it into my car. Not a great tool, but cheap, and for a 7 1/4" blade it cuts up to a 2x8. s t r a i g h t. something I have trouble doing.

yes, a sliding compound miter saw. It levers down and slide back as well, expanding the cutting area without having a large diameter (more expensive) blade. It's tiny in the range of miter saws, but just the right size for me and my little projects.

Just completed putting together the on call schedule for the next three months. I WILL NOT be on call for the week before I leave for the desert until the week after the week after I return.
- One week check list checking
- Two weeks in Nevada
- One week decompression

Now I can relax a bit.

I'm finally finishing up some costume pieces and accessories for my campmate. He brings gear and I bring fluff.
I started inventory and ordering of stuff at work that may run out 3 months from now.
I can't even find the bases, how am I going to get them covered?
