Personal hovercraft. Hovers REAL low to the ground. Hard to generate much anti-grav with just a battery.unjonharley wrote:Its an older shoppers mobility cart.. Most were 12 volt and move real slow
The Way is not the way, but you can park there and walk the rest of the way.

It's to low for the playa dunes.
I may put bigger wheels on it and lower the axels.

What is it??!!
It's the new line from Zamboni - the newest machine to keep the playa absolutely flat and smooth.
The next morning you will wake up pretty much your old self except that a very unusual 16 hours will have been added to your store of life experience.

Thin, breathable fabric for another playa day dress. I am also still on my quest for the perfect playa shoes.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Got all the components in for some swag for this year. These little vials of Playa dust or man ash were WAY more popular than I thought so the quantity was doubled for this year. Hopefully I'll have some left by day 2.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Went out to the bream pond this afternoon, caught, broiled (in butter/lemon sauce), vacuum packed, and froze 10 handsome palm sized hybrid bream (2 packs of 5 per pack) for my first fish-night dinner on the Playa.
I call it fishing. However, Miss Anne calls it cheating because I feed them fish pellets twice every day all year long. When we want a fish dinner, I toss out a handful of fish pellets and when the water begins to boil I drop in a worm baited hook.
Last week, I baited-up some crawfish traps and caught me mess of crawfish for my other fish-night entree on the Playa. That time, I boiled the crawfish with Cajun seasoning and packaged them in 2 packs with Bearnaise Sauce.
It is hard work, but someone has to do it.

Sadie,
I will be camping and volunteering at the Airport. I should not be hard to find. If I thought that they would be appreciated, It would be quite easy for me to catch another mess of mug bugs to make a proper feast.
Depending on where in Texas that you live, I might be driving solo close by. From Mississippi, I will be driving I-20 to Dallas, up 287 to Amarillo and then I-40 to Kingman, AZ.

I am about 200 miles west of Dallas, and plan to skirt the southern portion of the Rockies as much as I can. I have been studying maps, but don't have an exact route planned yet, but who knows...we may end up crossing paths!
Grey..I have quite a few foggy memories that involve those delicious little critters too! It would be fun to have an all out cajun fest in the desert.GreyCoyote wrote:Meat Hunter & Sadie: got room for a third wheel? Mudbugs and I have a long and sordid history together.
The annual school district cajun fest is next week, and right across the street from where I work!! My mouth has been watering since the poster went up in our window. Every year I have to dodge crawfish carcasses on my route to the post office for a few days after...don't know if they were "escapees" or birds pulling them out of the dumpsters...

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Sadie,
The last time that I drove I-40 through NM & AZ (20 years ago), I do not remember encountering any mountains that would give me cause any concern today pulling a small trailer behind my car.
For me, that is the most direct route - passing through Kingman, AZ via. Las Vegas and on up from there. 32 hrs.
However, I am planning on making it a 4-5 day trip from MS to the Playa. For the final leg, I am looking at making either Henderson, Tonopah or Fallon, NV as my last over-night.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Today I:
Paid my camp dues (Yay for Astral Headwash!)
Received a lightweight sheer poncho in the mail (ordered from EBay)
Ordered a new pair of goggles
Dug out a boring dress that I have plans to modify
Starting to figure out how I'm going to get my tipi to the playa - it is the best playa shelter but those 20 ft long wooden poles don't quite fit into my car
(Hi, I'm Sam. I was on here once before but forgot my username/password and no longer have the associated email address, so I had to resubscribe. Can't wait to get back to the playa!)

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
I made an application for a Low Income Ticket today. I made an application for a disabled vehicle license yesterday. I am not hauling the trailer with the Geo this year because I sold the car to pay for my set of dentures. Cripes, false teeth are expensive !
I plan to fix up my old 1971 GMC Superior motorhome to haul my trailer with golf cart this year. It is a beast with a huge gas tank ( and needs it ). I am thinking about the local shop putting a better engine in it, maybe blinging it out 70's style. My caregiver Darlene says I can use her truck, but she is just being nice. If my applications are accepted and awarded, I will get there somehow.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
A ginormous cot was waiting for me when I got home today. This thing is HUGE! With my Thermarest XL pad on top, it's gonna be super comfortable. I'm 6'1" tall and I hate when my feet hang off the bed. I can stretch all the way out and still not hit either end on this thing.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Taking Ratty's advice and "starting with what I have" I went through all my fabric bins today and found all kinds of great stuff I'd forgotten I had. On the list to sew by August: A fleece coat for me and one for the Mr., two new thin cotton dresses with contrasting bloomers, two extra bloomers to fill out my existing shortie dress collection, and a couple of pairs of spats to jazz up my playa boots.
