I scored a new coffee press at the thrift store. Been getting by on instant the bear trashed my camp at Mammoth Lakes. The only lasting damage was a broken coffee pot. The Airport page is open now so I can complete the registration !!!!

Oh it was a drag. But so worth it and cooler. But it'll be worth it to have it on the playa where it seems like a palace!

Have reached the degree of frantic disorganization wherein I'm ordering whatever comes to mind just to be sure I get it in time (half of which I'm almost certain I either already have, or won't use).

At this point I'm re packing and resorting things that are already packed. Unemployment sure helps reduce the prep time crazies. I just need the uhaul here to load it up so I stop tripping over everything.

But can you still see your living room? Mine is starting to disappear under the piles of stuff arriving at the last minute, because the noble steed hasn't been cleaned from the last trip yet (before I bury the dirt under the loads of supplies). I'll be so glad when I get the cleaning done and can start schlepping supplies into my transportation.Savannah wrote:The shopping is (almost) over, so I'm beginning my packing today!

I've started packing! There are plastic totes all over our apartment, it's getting a bit silly. Some of them will go into storage in Reno next weekend though.
I also went through my pack list and ordered anything I was missing from Amazon/made a Walgreens list.
My Kodiak arrived, along with the camp's sound system and a UV cannon.
I've got most of our non-perishable food purchased and packed.
I've organised the baking of a pavlova for 'Straya Day (thanks Black Rock Bakery!)

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
Last year, I brought to the playa four (4) packages of bacon that I had cooked and vacuum packed at home. Since I will be on the road and on the playa for the better part of three (3) weeks this year, I thought that might be a bit long for the bacon to be thawed and in my ice chest.
On Friday, I received my order of three (3) tins of pre-cooked shelf-stable bacon. Before I bring the bacon to the playa, I wanted to see if it was any good. For breakfast Saturday morning and for dinner Saturday night; I tried the bacon with blueberry pan cakes for breakfast and made bacon & tomato sandwiches for dinner.
Yup. For all intents and purposes, the pre-cooked and canned bacon was as good as freshly cooked bacon. I did not count how many slices there were in a can, but there had to be more than 30 slices. The bacon was wrapped over a piece of waxed paper and rolled into a log. The only problem (if you can call it a problem) is that once the bacon is removed from the tin, it has to be refrigerated.
Also arriving Friday was three (3) quarts of shelf-stable whole milk and two (2) quarts of shelf-stable chocolate milk, one tin of shelf-stable butter, one tin of shelf-stable cheese and four (4) tins of shelf-stable bread. Except for the bread, I have tried all these before and they were all good so there was no need to open them for testing.
I like "heavy" bread, so I opened a tin of the bread for a test and it did not disappoint. Interesting how one removes the bread from the tin. One opens both ends of the tin and the round loaf of bread pushes right out. Since it is a "heavy' bread, the round loaf was easy to slice and quite delicious when the slices were warmed and slathered with butter and lime marmalade.
For several dinners on the playa this year, I intend to make bacon & tomato sandwiches. Instead of bringing a jar of mayonnaise, I went by a local fast food restaurant for lunch today and as I was leaving, I made a pass by the condiment counter and loaded a pocket with little single service packet of mayonnaise. And yes, I did ask if I could have a hand full and offered to pay for them, "Take all you want". And so I did; I loaded my other pocket full -- also.

I ordered two wig caps and some extra string lights. I have been procrastinating a lot on replacing my bike chain on my cruiser. I have now moved the cruiser into the garage where it can be worked on in the shade.
I have had BMIR on for the last couple days. It's interesting to relive last year's event through the radio. I have the BMIR app on my phone and I stream it in my car while driving around. My boyfriend thinks I am over obsessed, but I can't help it. Is there a treatment program for this yet? Burners Anonymous? Jeezus.

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
Brought the frame of my chariot over to Dr. Helix when I went to glue pennies on the giant goose last night. Asked him to put a shelf under the seat to hold a small ice chest and a tube on the side of the seat to hold an umbrella handle (I usually use rope, duct tape, solid gauge electric wire, faith and spit for all my fixin's and repairs). Bam, dude asks me what I really want and does it. I am so used to dealing with myself; what do I want, what can I really do, how will I screw this up, what do I settle on.... It is so humbling to see professional people bring that to the table. And by the look in their eyes when they saw my baby and I explained my vision to them, I know the feelings are mutual. Today I use the chrome spray paint to shine the chariot up and figure out if I can use a coffee can as a cup holder.

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
I ordered and paid for four new tires for my van. The ones that are on it now are at least ten years old and some have cracks in the rubber. Though it was expensive, it's the price I needed to pay for peace of mind. They get installed on Saturday. Tomorrow night I drop the van off at another mechanic for a AC look see. It's blowing warm and we can't have that. Fingers crossed it's not a major part to replace.
I picked up two new rolls of single ply TP yesterday. I think I have lots, but it's always to good to have more!!

One time I "fixed" my AC by simply checking and replacing my car's radiator coolant level. Needless to say I wasn't maintaining the car well enough. I hope it is something simple for you.

Right with you Danibel. Six new tires on the dually, four new rolls of RV-type toilet paper, and my A/C works but it's not as cold as it's supposed to be, might go get it recharged before we head out.
