There is a good reason they stake down the JOTS out there.

It's dusty and windy.
I'm in the early-entry line (Friday), been here four hours, lots more to go.
God help the general opening day burners...

I'm sitting in Reno, heading up tomorrow via Burner Express, which bypasses the line. Hopefully you won't still be waiting when I arrive.

White out. Trying to find out if gate is closed. Probably. And the winds are still picking up.

No words can describe striking camp in a dust storm.

I got serious envy going for all those out there swinging hammers while pelted by the sandblaster.

My inner eye can smell it.

It's freaking awesome out here. So far our structures are holding. More importantly so are our neighbors. 70 miles per hour gusts as per weather service, can't see three feet in front of you. Music is playing. Along with the frantic sounds of rebar being pounded in a hurry. Traffic had been stopped but I'm just now starting to hear some trucks. This is the burning man you hear stories about.
When the only tool you got is a hammer, every problem looks like a hippie.

Mmmmmm I love the smell of Burning Man - Token

As long as my bike doesn't blow away before I get there!

Oh, and white outs are as fun as they are horrible. I'll be there soon enough, if Burner Express is running.
Last year they stopped running because of the rain; this time dust.
Next year? Lava? Plane crash? Earth quake?
