Old Habits

Post by unjonharley » Sat Oct 30, 2004 10:28 am

Old habits are hard to break. I was just watching a local Today Show. There was a man that digs before they put a new building in "old town" Portland. He studies old building drawings. Then finds where the toilets (potties) were located. This morning he was in a hole where a Gospel Mission had been. With in an hour he had two boxes full of 100 year old bottles.

Now how do you expect new burner to change a "gene" habit like that?
I'm the contraptioneer your mother warned you about.

old habits-1:

today being hung over and generally stupid, i started opening drawers in the kitchen to put silverware away that were the config to our old house... duh.

old habits-2:

the young latino gentleman next door to me keeps his "lotion and tissues" on his bedside desk that sits right in front of the window... don't think he realises the artistic statement in that.

My wife pointed out to me that I'm leaving dirty handprints on the walls from constantly slapping the spots where the lightswitches were, before we moved.....

old habits:

on our fist year to BM, we camped near a young couple from NYC. the girl might have been new to camping as all they brought in their small car was a pup-tent, 2 chairs, some water, and a full length mirror! (not a fun-house mirror either).

Some years ago we had a power outage that lasted about 3 days. In 3 days I didn't break the habit of reaching for light switches.
